Doc's Supercharged FG2 Build

$

I had an EJ8, had a baby and decided my son needed a more comfortable ride (something with a/c, not so low to the ground, and not as loud) + I didn't want to have to learn how to work on another car (but I now know that it only takes a different book to learn, anyways) so I found a great deal on an 07 FG2 in NHBP. The car was in Michigan, I took a bus ride up there and bought the car then drove back 9h to TN where I now live. 4h into my ownership of this car I got my first ticket, oh well. The car already came with the HFP lip kit, HFP wheels, red front/back Honda emblems, and Honda/Stanley fog lights, everything else was stock.

This is how it looked when I got it. Sorry for the crappy pics, they were taken with my phone

I had a couple thousands left over and I knew this was gonna be one of the few times I would have money to spend on my car. So with that, I got (all in April '12):
*WeatherTech DigitalFit Floormats front/back
*WeatherTech Window Visors
*eBay yellow fog lights (I don't like the clear lens look)
*OEM Honda replacement wiper blades
*Tein S-Techs
*K&N Typhoon SRI
*TWM short shifter + bushings
*LEDs for license plate, trunk, and interior
*new HFP wheel decals
*BlackWorks magnetic oil/tranny plugs
*OEM Honda red badge key cover
*NGK Iridium Spark Plugs
*AmSOil Synchromesh tranny fluid
*Type-R shift boot
*Type-R shift knob
*Red steering wheel emblem
*cheap 3000k ebay light bulbs for high beams and fogs

Then I ran out of money. Lol so little by little, here's my build:

05/28/12 Got new battery. Left me on the road but luckily I was a half mile from Discount Auto Parts.

06/04/12 Got CorSport In-Trunk pillar brace

06/12/12 Ebay strut bar

06/13/12 Megan h brace + lower front cross bar

06/15/12 rear roof visor

8/17/13 taillight tint

8/20/12 4300k hid bulbs

8/21/12 9005 Sylvania SilverStar Ultra Bulbs

8/24/12 new 4300k hid kit

8/30/12 black box sun strip tint

9/11/12 p2r tbs

Next i managed to get some pulleys for a great price. The pulleys made a pretty good noticeable difference with the engine, and throttle response. They were, way lighter than the OEM pulleys for sure, great weight Reduction Mod! :dancing:

IMG_0988 by Fa5civic, on Flickr

Next i wanted to get rid of my engine movement and complete my engine mounts once and for all. The rear mount made such a huge difference IMO. took away the movement completely and made it even smoother with the shifting. :vtec:

I Defiantly noticed a difference with Throttle response the most, its like no more delay in the pedal, also picked up a little more power, they also claim it gives better MPG, Can't complain with that lol

Hey guys, been lurking on 8th for a while now and also been slowly modding my car using all the resources on here. Definitely an awesome forum with such friendly people. Thanks 8th! Well, I drive a 10' TWFA5. All mods have been cosmetic for the time being, but plan on getting some bolt ons in the near future. The car was purchased new on March 25, 2011. The car came with OEM trunk tray, floor mats and mud guards. Definitely grateful as this was a gift from my parents for getting into university. Since then though, haven't been able to do much cause I attend school full-time and work also. This build wont be complete for a while, but I might as well start a build thread now. Anyways on to the mods list. Hope you guys enjoy, all comments are welcome! Cheers.

Interior Modifications:
OEM All-Season Floor Mats
OEM Trunk Tray
White LED License Plate Lights
White LED Reverse Lights
White LED Interior Dome Lights
White LED Trunk Lights
Broadway 360mm Mirror
Blox 490 Shift Knob (Torch Blue)
J's Racing Steering Wheel Emblem
StrutKing Dead Pedal
Bride Shift Knob
Bride Center Arm Rest

Exterior Modifications:
OEM Mud Guards
Front & Rear JDM Emblems
Red Brake Light Overlay
DDM Tuning 6000K HID
Nokya Hyper Yellow 2500K DRL
OEM Window Visors
Yellow Foglight Overlay
Front Plate Delete

Engine Modifications:
K&N Typhoon V2 Short-Ram Intake [Shipping]

Future Modifications:
GRFX Si Console Badge
Nokya Hyper Yellow 2500K Foglights
HFP Front & Rear Skirts
Taffeta White Trunk Trim
Bride Door Inserts

Skunk2 Megapower Header
FlashPro Tune
Skunk2 Pro-S II Coilovers
MB Battles

When I first got my car, I named her Audrey. I don't really know why but I guess I always thought that name sounded like a hot chick (lol, yeah...weird). This is a picture I took about a month ago, while waiting for my girlfriend after work. Since then I've taken the front plate off. Debating whether I should relocate it to the side or flip it and keep it in the middle when I get my HFP front lip.

Before I even picked up my car, I already had these emblems on the way. As soon as they came, I debadged the civic and slapped on the front and rear JDM badges. I also really liked the old 06-08 third brake light under the spoiler. I removed the spoiler and wrapped the clear light with a red overlay. So here are some pics of the front & rear JDM badges and red brake light overlay.

Couple weeks later, my buddy and I went to grab some interior lights for our cars. I got some white map, dome & trunk LED bulbs for the si while he got some for his tsx. It's a cheap mod that is functional and also easy to install! Here's what they look like in the dark (inside the garage with lights off lol).

After browsing the thread "Show off the front of your civic", I really fell in love with the look of yellow DRL bulbs. It was a hard choice between Nokya and Luminics, but ended up ordering some Nokya hyper yellow in 2500K. It's relatively cheap and is a lot more yellow than OEM.

Fast forward a couple of months, my buddy and I ordered some HID low-beams from DDM Tuning. Combined shipping is a lot cheaper than if you were to order a single kit to Canada. It was a pain to get them in but eventually got them working. They are 6000K output with a whitish-blue tint. Also slapped on some yellow foglight overlays after. Debating on whether to rip off the overlay and install Nokya hyper yellow foglights as well.

Had the previous GRXP's overlay, but the problem was it kept peelin when it got really hot out. Heard many of the guys on 8th recommending the J's Racing JDM steering wheel overlay. Scrapped the old on and put this one on. Many of you guys applied directly on top of the OEM emblem, but I wanted to make sure it sat firm this time. I pretty much yanked and pulled the OEM emblem off, a lot tougher than I thought cause it was a weird stretchy plastic. Heres what it looks like when it sits flush without anything underneath.

In July, as an early birthday gift for myself I ordered the Bride arm rest and shift boot from RedlineGoods. I was more than impressed by the quality of the material and stitching. I wrote a review for both of these products after installing them and I think it can be found in the "inside and out" section of the forum. Installing the boot was very easy. The arm rest however was a pain. Taking the arm rest apart was relatively easy, however putting everything back together was horrible, especially the sliding rail. Overall after a couple of hours of struggling, here's the finished product. Also, I think the red goes pretty well with the torch blue shift knob from Blox.

My girlfriend knows how much I love Domo. So when she went to visit family in So Cal, she saw this limited edition panda Domo at the mall, which reminded her of me. It's small and awesome, and even fits snug between the blind spot mirror. I guess we can call him my "buddy in crime". :vtec:

Also, finally getting started with some bolt-ons. I just purchased a K&N Typhoon V2 Intake from a member here and waiting patiently for it to arrive. I really wanted to go the cold-air route, but there is a pretty good chance something goes bad judging from my pictures (my car is soaked in almost all of them). Thanks for viewing my journal. It's a work in progress for sure, but none less, I hope you enjoyed it. Cheers.

So not that Im planning on actually tackling such a build, but I find myself thinking if its possible. 300 is kind of an unnofficial cieling for NA K series right now and I wonder if (with some insane work) you could get it up to 400. think its doable? how would you go about it? bore out a k24 to 2.5L...some insane compression with racing fuel?

just something to think about, how would you do it?

CCSubaru's R18 Build Thread

Figured It's About Time To Make A Build Thread

Bought the car in June of 2011 - Traded in my 2008 Subaru Legacy because I was unemployed and in college and needed a cheaper car as far as maintenance/gas/insurance/mods goes so I started my search and had always liked the look of the 8th gen sedans and loved the interiors especially. Ended up finding a 2006 Civic LX for 12,999 at herb Chambers and since my Legacy was paid off and I was trading it they gave me a check for the difference in price since my Legacy was worth more trade in than the Civic was, which is really the whole reason I did this in the first place because I needed the extra money

First picture of her the day they delivered:

I have done a lot of little things over up untill now and I don't have picture of some of them - Will take pictures soon

Mod List:
Engine:
Skunk2 60mm Catback Exhaust
K&N Filter w/ Resonator Removed

Wheel/Suspension:
18" HFP Bronze Wheels
225/40/18 Kumho Ecsta 4X Tires

Exterior:
PIAA Xtreme White Plus Lows
Nokya Yellow Highs
LED License Plate Lights
Grfxp Taillight Tint Covers
K2 Foglight Kit
Black Painted Grille

Interior:
Blue LED Dome Lights
High Power LED Map Lights
TWM Performance Hybrid Shift Knob (Best Mod So Far IMO)
Redline Goods Black Leather w/ Blue Stitching Shift Boot
Weathertech All Weather Mats

Pictures:

I picked this ebay knob up off eBay just to have something other than huge stock one and reused the Redline Goods boot from my legacy for a while

First I got this Injen Axleback, and although it was a nice exhaust I later traded it for a Skunk2 60mm Catback

I replaced the eBay knob with a TWM Phantom hybrid Knob during a group buy :drooling: I love this knob and would highly reccomend it to anybody

After getting really sick of looking at my car with steelies/hubcaps I took the plunge and ordered 18" HFPs from CHH and wrapped them in 225/40 Kumho Ecsta 4X's from TireRack.. Love them on GGM :woot:

Went to Wicked Big Meet with my civic, this is a large Subaru event put on every year by New England Subaru.. Had alot of fun and managed to park next to only other Honda there, don't know who he is though  had to rock a Honda FTL on my back window though :umad:

Some pics I have laying around - Have yet to do a photoshoot but just picked up a new camera so once I get a free day I will take some proper pics

My 414 hp build

Well I am finally out of the honda scene. After spending TOO much money on a k24 build, I opted to get an actual performance car. I picked her up friday, a 2009 e92 M3, with 6spd, nav, competition package, and carbon roof. And let me tell you there is absolutely no comparison. The car is built so much better in every way possible. The interior, power, handling, steering, response, brakes.. etc etc.

Already got plans for building her up. Since I got the car I have dropped in a AA filter, and switched out the ugly chrome grills for all black.

Out with the old, in with the new

I havent had a chance to do a photo shoot yet, but I will update when I do. enjoy

Suspension/Wheels/Tires

- 17x9 + 22 Varrstoen v2 rattle canned
- Nanking 205/40/r17

August 2011 - The day I brought her home from the stealership

First couple of Mods i did were Red H emblems front and rear, plasti dipped lower part of front and rear bumper, weathertech visors, added illest badge and LED everything

Next thing I did was 10k HIDS and Nokya DRLS. Also HD lip

Fast Forward a Month after that and i bought skunk2 lowering springs, kplayground whale tail, yakima roof rack, red vinyl overlays from grafxpressions, rally wink mirror, hfp axlback, password jdm tow hook, ILDS frame plate, and painted my stockies white.

After that i finally bought an HFP front Lip from Honda and painted the middle. Also got Depo Fog lights from ebay with yellow film. heres a photoshoot with a couple friends.

After a while got bored with the look of my car and traded my stockies for 17' ASA JS1. The next day i got my GODSPEED Coils in the mail and installed them with the help of a friend.

Didn't like the way they sat on the car so i traded them away for 17x9 Mb Weapons. Too agreesive for me at the time and so I had Ray down in matawan shave my fenders and slightly pull them. If you guys need work done go to Ray he does quality work!

The following week me and my boys attended Fresh Meet Summer Bash at Kean University. I sold my roof rack there too.

Eventually got tired of rubbing so badly that i traded away the weapons for RSX stockies plus $300. i used part of that money to finally buy a rear lip brand new from a local gave it to me for 220 amazing deal.

Heres a pic on her 1 year birthday! the top pic is the day i got her and the bottom is exactly one year later.

After 2 weeks of having the RSX stockies i traded them away for Enkei Evo 5 wheels plus $200. i needed the money for a camber kit thats why.

I got tired of the look of my wheels being so sunk in so i pulled the trigger on and bought a new set of Varrstoens 17x9 and 205/40 tires

Then Thanks to 09Civicguy for motivating me lol, i painted the fog housings! I also rattled canned my varrstoens to an aqua blue, got the idea from my boy jeffthecrowna and funny thing is we used the same exact paint, i didnt plan on that. debombed the wink mirror and painted it to match also.

Decided to go lower. a couple pics from Panda Meet with jeffthecrowna and my friend with her brz

And for ***** and giggles

hurricane sandy! stay safe everyone

stay tuned i have much more plans for her thanks for looking guys hope you enjoyed it :wavey:

Background: I bought my 2009 Taffeta White Honda Civic Lx (R18) In December of 2011 and sold it in August 2012 Due to financial issues, loved the car but situation wouldn't allow of me keeping it sadly :pout: Here is my build thread for it: http://www.8thcivic.com/forums/car-b...build-r18.html

Anywho....
After a month I had money saved up and money from all my parts invested into my Taffeta White. Started looking around for cars and ended up picking up this lovely 2009 Honda Civic Si in Crystal Black Pearl

After having my Taffeta White, I decided that I wanted to keep the Si Clean, functional, and quick :vtec:

Lets start off with some pics of my Taffeta White:

Now onto the build  :
9-28-12 Brought the Car Home and Detailed the ish out of it :D

Here's the thread to the detailing http://www.8thcivic.com/forums/detai...rt-finish.html

9-29-12 Changed the Welcome Screen :giggle:

9-30-12 I had all my miscellaneous parts from my Taffeta White such as nokya's, HID Kit, emblems, plate frames, LED bulbs etc. So installed those and relocated my front plate while I was at it

10-4-12 Found a great deal on 17x9 +22 Rpf1's locally and since they are my favorite wheels decided to pick them up.

10-26-12 Saw pics of Rota Torques on cars, and found a cheap set with new tires decided to pick them up, I know they're not the prettiest but will be painting them after the winter

10-30-12 Found TSX Wheels with Brand new tires for dirt cheap, decided to pick them up and use them as winter wheels  Also put my plate back in the center (looked cleaner) and put on my half hood bra from my taffeta white

Whats up 8th!

Figured I'd start my build thread from Day 1 so here goes:

Quick story: Received a 2009 Honda Civic LX as a present for my 18th birthday. See build here: http://www.8thcivic.com/forums/car-b...r18-build.html. Figured it was time to move on and get something nicer. Bought an '06 RSX Type-S which was nothing but trouble for me and ended up bringing back to the dealer. Was searching for a car for a while and couldn't find a TW Sedan. School was coming up and I needed a car so I settled for a bone stock '06 FG2 in NHBP. Not what I wanted but it worked. See build here: http://www.8thcivic.com/forums/car-b...fg2-build.html. Had the car up for sale for 2 months with nothing but lowball offers. Received a call on 11/13 with an offer for the car that I couldn't refuse. Sold the car that same night and on 11/14 I picked up the car I originally wanted, a TW FA5. Gave Honda a nice down payment and ended up getting the car for $18,000 out the door. Literally a steal... 2009 Civic Si with 27k on it. Immaculate condition. The previous owner was a 58 year old lady who commuted to work. Car was serviced at Honda every 5k miles so I know this car is the real thing.

Mod List:
Engine:

Exterior:

Interior:
35% Tint all around
Suspension/Rims:

I.C.E.:

Plans for the car:
I plan on doing all Show and no Go first. Already had my fun with my previous Si in terms of modding and beating on it. Plan on doing the Mugen RR front conversion, Mugen RR Rear Conversion with the Vis Demon Carbon Trunk, Full suspension and under carriage braces, on some polished rims 17x9 or 18x9. I plan on having all of that ready for Honda Day-Atco. Once that is all complete I plan on skipping I/H/E since I know what that feels like and just building a nice daily driven Full-Race turbo'd Si.

Appreciate any comments you may have, Good or Bad!

Anyways, onto the pictures!

Day 1:

I KNOW ABOUT THE FUGLY PINSTRIPE. IT WILL BE REMOVED AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.

my bish as of today:

Sup guys my names David and I drive a 06 honda civic sedan.
This is My first car, had it ever since high school. I was lucky enough to earn this from my parents :). So dont dont judge D: . This car is suppose to be my go to school back car, but i was like nah how about school and back in style car :D . So I started to save and work for my parts like a true car enthusiast and I did all the installs myself.
to start out:
Like all highschool kids, we're all broke!
I was able to purchase a Broadway mirror, stickers, side visors, JDM emblems, exhaust cover, HID's, DRLS, a towhook, and other small accessories

After High School was when the look of my car started to change and I had a plan.
I got red overlays for my tail lights, a rear visor, tints, and tein lowering springs.

A couple weeks into the summer after highschool:
I sold my old visors and picked up a brand new set of OEM honda visors and wheels 5zigens fno1rc 17x8 +42.

Then picked up a lovely fart cannon. (Greddy Tic w/ straight pipes)

Then some Purple HFP wheels 17x7 +40 ??

College starts:
Sold the Exhaust and sold my lowering springs and got Buddy Club N+ Coilovers

was driving on my steelies for like 4 months then FINALLY got wheels XXR 962 17x9+35

Later on Picked up a wink mirror and a Black Si grill(crossed out the Si because im not.)

Got Mud guards. my car is to low for front mud guards so i just have the rears.Wanted new wheels so I picked up RPF1 SBC 17x9 +22

After 2 years of owning my car, i finally find a freaking HFP lip in my color

Wanted new wheels so I got Advan RG-D 17x9.5 +25

the Advans were to wide for me so i got rpf1 SBC again lol 17x9 +22

Today 9/4/2012 i just picked up a type r rear end. will get it painted and installed later

And thats my car hope you guys enjoyed looking at my build.

-I've been a member on 8thcivic for about two years and first joined when I was 17 and got my first car, a NHBP Fg2.
-I'm a current sophomore at New York University, 19 years old, and majoring in Revenue Management in NYU's hotel school.
-I got into cars in my senior year of high school and at first, built my car towards speed, but completely changed my thoughts about cars and started to get into the stance movement. (Why drive fast when you have speedlimits, no space to open up unless entering the highway, speeding tickets, accidents etc? :wavey: :umad:)
-Paid for all my mods though summer jobs but my parents did buy my car for me which I plan to repay them in a few years after I graduate.
Goal: Own a NSX by 26

Anyways here is my build from start to finish:

First day I got my car and one of the happiest days of my life! (1/15/11) NHBP Fg2 07' 30,000 miles for only $13,200!
Car came with a Greddy Ti-C, Injen SRI, HFP rims, and JDM Badges.

Next, read about plasti dip before the huge fad and decided to plasti dip my HFPS white! Also added the HD lip, 8k HID's, and yellow fogs.

After painting the HFPS white with plastidip, i sprayed over the plasti dip in GOLD.

I then was done with visuals and added a Vibrant Header with a HFC, and a cobb accessport! Also painted my HFPS Black and went to Honda Day!

After Honda Day, ran my first time at the track and ran a 14.8 with boltons and a cobbaccessport.

Got into an argument with some friends (at the time) over the track and a huge misunderstanding and got put on blast for nothing. Decided that if the friends who got me into racing would throw away a friendship over false assumptions, it was time to move on to different friends in the car game and change the direction of my car. For ALL car enthusiasts out there, I still believe a sh*tload of car "enthusiasts" have a retarted need to race or be faster then each other, but at the end of the day it means nothing. Just a bunch of grown dudes in a never ending pissing contest. (Too mature for this sh*t even when I was 18 I realized that.)

FAST FORWARD 1 YEAR TO SUMMER 2012 (Did not drive my car all year since I live in Manhattan)

Added: OEM HFP Lip, Rear Tow Hook, Window visors, RSX-S Rims (took me FOREVER to find)

The next and BIGGEST transformation:
Purchasing Skunk 2 Coilovers and painted my RSXs Cherry Gloss Red

Got tired of looking so sunk and decided to get MB Battles 17x9 + 30 and an OEM hfp lip. I was still on the same tires as my RSX rims, 215/45/17 and I could not go that low. Also had my fenders shaved by my friend's Uncle (Ray from s2ki)

I get bored of colors easily so I plasti dipped my battles black and sprayed over in Aqua Blue.

After all summer, I decided that it wasnt wheel color that would complete my car, but fixing my stance would.
This week (Thanksgiving), I found a set of 205/40 tires for a steal so threw them on my whip and FINALLY my stance was dialed in.
The most recent photos I have:

Now I do not think my car is complete as I'd like to add a few things here and there, but for now, I'm content with my build and how far my car has come in two years WHILE I've been attending school and keeping up my GPA.
I really got into cars as a hobby, but now, I feel like my car is a reflection of myself and how far I've come and grew up in the last few years.

Will keep this thread updated as my car progresses, but hopefully this thread evolves into pics of a new car in a few years after school :vtec:

Long term satisfaction > Short term enjoyment.
If I had to sell the car for school, I would in an instant, and although I love my car, it's only a small part of my life and I can put off wasting money on my car while I have more important priorities.

Lady decides to reverse into me at the Post Office:

Her damage:

Where I left off:

JRSC, 3.0" pulley, E85, DW1300 injectors, Q300, PLM header, 3.5" intake, and of course Vit tuned.

Got my check and started to order parts:

And my luck continues....This doesn't look like a 2009+ Civic front bumper...

They sent me 2010+ Honda Accord bumper

Scrapped the whole idea and just kept the 07 front, easier to sell when time comes anyways...
