Decided to create a build thread for my 2008 FG2. I have owned this car since it was brand new when I purchased it in December of 2007. It has come a long way and has been transformed multiple times. Currently it is being completely rebuilt and I will soon have some dyno results.

Here is a list of some of the parts being put on the car:

Jackson Racing C38-61 Rotrex Supercharger K Series Track Kit
Custom Garrett Intercooler and Piping
Alpha Race Header
Thermal R&D Exhaust
Deatschwerks 1000 cc Injectors
Deatschwerks DW300 Pump
Hondata Flashpro
Hondata Traction Control
Honda Custom Ported RBC Intake Manifold
Honda J37 Big Bore Throttle Body
Tein Street Fled Coil Overs with EDFC Active Pro
Drag Cartel 2.2 Endurance Cams with SuperTech Valve Train
Exedy Clutch and Flywheel

A Serious R18 Overhaul

What's up everyone, Shane here with my new build on my little LX.

I bought the car a little over a year ago because it was time to grow up out of my '93 Eagle Talon (non-turbo, thing couldn't get out of its own way...). I didn't plan on going to the extent that I am, but I figured since I'm in the financial position to actually have some fun, I want to go as all out as I can, and document it!

First things first, for the love of God please don't tell me how I'm wasting money and "should have got an Si blah blah blah". I'm going this route for two reasons: (1) I want to be unique and do something that most have not done on here (that I've seen, maybe for good reason?), and (2) I don't want to purchase another vehicle to modify and keep this as a daily. Denver winters can sometimes be brutal so even in stock form this isn't ideal in deeper snow. I will be buying another vehicle, but it will be a Tacoma or 4Runner so I can still get around in the winter. Also, I truly have no clue as to what the power will be. Given that the track pack supercharger is good for "+100 hp", just that is around 240, plus everything else, I would hope to see maybe 280? Maybe more since we all know the capabilities of E85. Otherwise, anything over 250-260 I will be ecstatic with.

On to the car and modifications:

2007 LX, auto, obvious 1.8L
When I bought it, 100% factory. Some hail damage but this will be taken care of soon. steelies, the works. As of current, I put an AEM intake on it, swapped to Si wheels, and have done a TSX front brake upgrade, EBC rotors and Yellowstuff pads, with braided lines all around. What's next you ask? Here's the plan, and to be completely honest, sure, this may not actually work out, but I will try my damnedest to make it work. I personally have a really good feeling about it quite honestly. If it doesn't, all work is being done to a second R18 engine and transmission so (money aside), it won't really matter. Swap back in the stuff that's in it now and continue driving it.

Engine Mods will be as follows:
- CP Pistons
- Brian Crower Rods
- Skunk2 Cam
- ID 1000's
- Deatchwerks DW301 340lph fuel pump
- Magnaflow high flow Cat
- Tanabe full exhaust
- Jackson Racing Track Pack Supercharger
- Snow Performance Meth Injection
- Tuned on Hondata: 91 and E85 Tune will be done, primarily running E85

If after all of this I still have some spare money, I may get the Weapon-R intake manifold, but I still need to do some more research with the company to ensure they've been able to get rid of the CEL it produces and ensure emissions provisions are kept.

Transmission will be kept simple, I'll be going with an IPT torque converter and an external transmission cooler. I know the auto trans will keep up with just the supercharger as I've read some people have done the turbo route so this won't be *much* different. I don't think the additional stuff I'm planning will blow it....At least, keeping my fingers crossed on that one. Obviously you guys will know if it does!

I'll be replacing all my fuel lines to handle the E85, and given the amount I've read about the returnless fuel system being capable of a rather large amount of power on the K20 before going return style, I'm going to hold off until I actually need it, if I do at all. Heck, maybe the comparison can't even be made between the two, I don't fully know that one.

Somewhere in there I will be doing an EX rear disc brake conversion, also putting EBC rotors and Greenstuff pads there. The hail damage will be taken care of, and I'll be going with a vinyl wrap as paint jobs are just so stupid expensive and the current paint is oxidizing. The new color will be a gloss yellow as I personally just love yellow and think it should look pretty good on this little girl. Wheels will be going to 17" Sparco Trofeo 5 in gloss black. I'll be lowering the car on ST coils coupled with Koni Orange struts (1 inch drop). Most of the coilovers for sale are just too expensive (or rather terrible quality/reputation) and quite personally, I like the ability to replace only one part of the suspension if something needs replacing.

I'm still in the process of collecting items; I've received my cam and fuel pump already. Going to a local parts place that my old job (Toyota) went through for used engines/transmissions this week either Wednesday/Thursday to get the two. I'll be tearing it down, doing some small maintenance items to it (water pump, thermostat, head gasket, chain guides, ensure block deck is flat and have the head resurfaced if necessary, check cylinder bores and all that jazz) and then start building it back up. I don't want to put myself under a deadline by any means but I would like to hope that in the next 2 months I should have everything ready to swap in... Until then, I'll just keep posting pictures of items as I receive them!

A little about me and my philosophy for doing this. I really don't make that much money, my wife and I sold our house and made a fair amount back. She's the most amazing wife ever and has allowed me to chase this. It's not so much I don't care about money either, EVERYONE wants to be in a good position financially, so do I. I won't be blowing every single penny I have on this either, we'll still be comfortable. My idea is simple, it's only a matter of time before emissions are overpowering and electric/hybrid/self driving cars are the norm, so I want to be a part of the tuner culture before my time runs out. Again, I may fail, but I will have an absolute blast in the process. I'm a humble individual, don't bash or criticize my every move here and we'll get along just fine!

We'll speak again soon,
-Shane

Its got a lot of audio upgrades
Cheap intake and exhaust
HFP suspension
Bayson R lip kit
Mugen visors
ebay rear visor
19x8.5" Niche Wheels
Currently wrapped Chameleon, was previously a custom printed snow camo
Knock off ebay wing
Nothing major, other little odds and ends not worth mentioning

Darth Maul - 2011 Honda Civic Si FA5

So I returned to the import and Honda scene now after a drunk driver totaled my 2009 Pontiac G8 GT. I was going to buy this Si as a daily driver and take the G8 off the road to build until that nightmare happened. I picked the Si up 3 days after the accident and decided im going to save SOME money to put toward getting my own house at the end of the year but can't keep me out of the car game so I am also going to mod this Si pretty well since parts aren't as expensive as the G8 (Kooks full exhaust was nearly $2000) lol. Since my buddy and I are both getting back in the game, my 8th gen and his 9th gen, we decided on a theme. His being Storm Trooper (White Si) and mine will be Darth Maul (Black Si). Now I know Darth Maul is Black and Red, so im going to end up getting some red accents to it eventually. From the jdm emblems, to red interior pieces as well as dark cherry red wheels.

Skunk2 Lowering Springs

Since installing the springs this past weekend (Feb 12th 2017) the car has already settled and sits even lower. Along with the springs, I already wrapped the chrome trim on the trunk gloss black. Jr and I have the taillight overlays to put on as well as de-badging the "Civic" off the trunk. Will update as more stuff gets done.

Im new to the fourms and wanted to share with you guys my build

I got my 09 fa5 in February of 15 with 69k miles wasnt sure the direction i wanted to go with the car. Then i decided i wanted to make a show/track fa5. I am a believer of built not bought so most of the work on the car is done by myself if not done by my self i play a very big roll in how the work gets done. I grew up around my dad, grandfather, and older brother who would work on cars and they would have me help them so I established a love for automobiles as young as 5. I knew from a early age that i wanted to work on cars for the rest of my life. In march 2016 i graduated from a post secondary trade school and recieved a light auto mechanics degree. The car is still not where i want it to be but will be updating progress as i progress with the build.

Hello all, my name is Mathew. I have decided it's time to move on from my S2000 and start building my 08 FA5. It has been sitting in my garage ever since I brought it back in September 2015. The car is completely stock so it should be fun to see what I can turn it into, my goal is to build a RR mugen all motor daily car which I can track it in the weekends. I suck at taking pics, so some pics might not be very well taken, but I figure it's nice to get some attention from the 8th gen big family. :wavey::wavey::wavey:

Hi everyone, im still new to this community, even though I have been doing plenty of research around this and many other websites I still have some trouble deciding on the mods I should do for my car. First and foremost I don't think I will ever get to the point to buy a supercharge or turbo kit for this car, unless it had less miles and all.. I just want to make it more fun to drive and enjoyable as it's my daily driver, im 24 and still single living in Dallas, Tx. I have a 2010 Honda Civic EX-L sedan, automatic, with currently 106,xxx miles on it. That's the fastest picture I could find of my car. Also I attached a picture of my current list of mods I have decided on and planned after doing a very looooong research and investigation on my own. I just need direct comments and opinions now from you guys about my specific car and situation and what is best. The whole list is not in order with the exception of the last three options being the last things I would get on my opinion.
For some reason since I bought my car it has always seemed like if it's already lowered, maybe not enough, but the change for perfection seems minimal at the moment, so it's not very necessary at the moment.
As for the wheels, I bought the new tires less than a year ago, at that time I was low in funds so I got a pretty cheap Chinese brand, they are okay for now, so I would focus on a new set of tires and wheels after this are more used.
And as for the Hondata flash pro, I have seen so many good reviews saying it's worth it n works great, but mostly from So owners. Regardless of this, if y'all think it is worth it for a R18 my guess would be that it's much better to have this after the most common mods known like the intake, exhaust, and headers.
For my research I like me the best the skunk2 exhaust, but I been having lots of trouble finding the right fit for my car because seems like it has been discontinued (413-05-2750) the specific part number for the sedans EX. So I have seen many people recommend the ones for the coupe (413-05-2700), but I've heard from sellers that this is shorter, "about 4 inches" so "you will need an extension welded". Now, about this I want to see how many of you have done this?, does it work and sound the same?, is it worth it?, or what other is the best brand with better increased performance for the catback?
As for the intake, after researching that the SRI is much easier to maintain and there is not a really huge difference with the CAI unless you go turbo (which I'm not). Plus the probability of "hydro locking" your car with the latest. So I decided for the SRI, so far I've seen K&N is the best, with the heat shield on the typhoon 68, again, let me know if there's one better than this, and correct me on my prices if I'm way off, as they were just my estimates, and probably before labor. As I could watch some videos and learn on my own to install everything with DIY help, but I really don't have much experience into this field other than regular oil change, change tires, etc.
Lastly, what is a good sound system to get on my car? I don't plan to activate the neighbor's cars alarm or anything, just have my ride more enjoyable with loud and good music. I really will appreciate any input, help, comments, changes, that you may have. I have been planning this for the longest but because of indecision and not enough experience just had trouble with deciding on what brands to use. Thanks again and I will respond as soon as I can with any updates or more questions. ^_^

James' FA5 Build

$

Hello Everyone,

My name is James and I recently joined this forum but I have been building my car for a little over 2 years already. I bought the car way back from the Honda dealership, it was a used 2007 Civic Si Sedan.

I was very happy because it was my second car coming from a whoopty 90 honda accord but it was the first car I bought with my own hard earned money back in Fall of 2014 :). Of course one of the first few small mods I did where red emblems and a Rep Mugen wing (I know i know I was struggling I was fresh outta highschool working and saving up for better mods lol)

In January of 2015 I finally manage to save up enough money to purchase my coilovers :)

That was when I wanted to be about that #StanceNation life

Once I lowered the car I was in search for wheels to get decent fitment so me being a fresh college student now im hurting for money sooooo I ended up getting some replica wheels (ESRs) oh whale xD

I then summited a application to get into Inspire-USA and surprisingly I got in!!!:woowoo:

After getting bannered back in May of 2015 I finally got a front lip, I didnt plan on putting much money into the USDM body because my ultimate goal was to save up for the FD2 conversion!

Oh yah when I got bannered is the same day I purchased my Invidia Q300 which is a amazing exhaust! Still have it on today! Oh yah I got into this car group called Midnight Reign if you wanna follow us on instagram the name is @Midnight.Reign we have some pretty nice builds and a lot of variety!

after about almost of year of being slammed and scraping 24/7 I missed doing backroads like when I first got my car and tearing up the corners with my stock Si. Well to make things short I bottomed out on this one back road and I actually hit my oil pan. I didnt bust it just scratched it but I told myself okay maybe its time to go functional! So I did and I got some new REAL wheels :dancingcoolsmiley:

After enjoying the current USDM state it was time for a change!

Ditched the entire rear end and went with FD2 Type R conversion buuttt just the rear! Also I picked up a Js style spoiler off of kplayground.

Next thing is next I ditched the Mugen style skirts for some Type r ones and got some small canards. I didnt wanna dump more money into the front but I wanted something kinda small before I ditch the entire USDM front end!

And now the moment I have finally been waiting for.... FD2 front end was in full effect in November of 2016!!

I do have a small video of bits of piece of my friends and I installing it on youtube if you go onto youtube and search "Full FD2 Conversion" it should be the first video at the top! Not going to lie I was more than excited to finally leave my USDM Civic behind and move forward with my new FD2 conversion!

Not much later I was looking for a new GT wing but I wanted to make this FD2 build different from the rest so I stayed away from the typical Js wing even tho I def loved it and I went with a Battle Aero probably one of the first FD2 to rock a Battle Aero trunk mount spoiler. I picked it up at Inspire HQ and installed that same day. (December 2016)

My car has def came a long way!!

Sadly my RR bumper didnt last very long and I still dont really know what happen to it. It was either vandalized or it just some how cracked while I was away from my car. Insurance saw the pictures and said it was most likely vandalized so I was pretty sad because I enjoyed the RR bumper. Thankfully insurance actually covered my the cost of my bumper and for paint!! ( February 2017)

After waiting for about 2-3 weeks for my check to get mailed to me once I got it I went straight back to Inspire HQ and they had a bumper that I at first wasnt the biggest fan of seeing it over pictures but once I saw it in person I was def excited to get it painted and on the car before Car Show registration started opening up! oh the bumper is made by M&M Honda Racing :woowoo:

After getting the bumper I noticed that my tires were already starting to show wire:facepalm::facepalm: Sooooo I got some new meat for my wheels! I decided to go with 255/40 front and 245/40 rear

okay so going 245/40 in the rear probably wasnt the best idea because I RUB LIKE CRAZY. So to kinda reduced my rubbing I raised my car higher up and finally picked up some camber arms to adjust the rear, I got godspeed, got them installed and go a alignment! I reduced camber in the rear buuuttt that caused me to rub once again but not that bad. After picking up the camber arms a month later my rotors were starting to wear so instead of getting them resurfaced I just decided to go slotted :)

Alright now my car is starting to look good!!!

Now sent in my application to Wekfest San Jose and well... guess what? (April 2017)

I got accepted!!! okay now its time to get the final pieces to finish it and get it all ready for Wekfest San Jose 2017 in California! I put my downpayment for custom aero to be made end of May beginning of June so I will have to leave my car with the shop! Im getting a custom diffuser and custom front splitter. I also picked up some M&M Honda Racing rear flare not just for the show but also to get rid of the rubbing in the rear lol.

I will keep updating my build as I get closer to Wekfest and so on!! (May 7, 2017):dancing::wheee::vtec:

Hey 8th Civic Fam! I'm from Kali (bay area). I've had my SI for about 2 months now, I bought it used at 84k miles it came with 17" HFPs and HID's. I decided to document everything I've done to my car so stay posted!

I'm kinda wanting to stay carb legal since I live in kali so I'm deciding to do a Shorty and Berk TP and just swapping out the TP with the stock cat come time to smog. Most of my gains will be from the SC and tune.

I don't plan on modding the exterior yet until I have full bolt ons

Updated with pics of mods soon come!

Hi everyone.

I just recently bought i used 2010 dxg. When i tried to replace cabin air filter myself, i found out that the filter tray behind the glove box is missing (yes the ac was run with ni filter air for who know how long). Does anyone know where and can buy replacement other than dealer?

Thank you in advance

Hi all.
I bought my civic last year from one of my friends who used it as a taxi from new.
Currently at 240k ish miles and going strong [emoji123].

First mod was the stereo. Facia and fitting kit ordered from eBay, I now have a Kenwood double Dinna with USB, reverse cam and Bluetooth. Steering wheel controls work too which is a bonus. I need to order a DAB antenna if anyone has any suggestions.

Being a hybrid, power was never going to be available so I've decided to go down the subtle cruiser route.

I've ordered Eibach Pro Kit springs which should be getting fitted next week along with wishbone bushes.

On the wheel front, I wanted something that was more stylish than standard but still not look out of place.
I bit the bullet and ordered a set of 2nd hand Riva Rtt 18x8, Et42 and some Nexen SU1s (225/40).

Heko wind deflectors on the way and planning window tint to match on the rear.

I want to do some exhaust work too, sounds a bit like a hair dryer at the mo [emoji13]. 3" tip, nothing OTT. Unsure what sound I want yet, will be getting made by my local stainless exhaust dude so that's to be decided.

Any comments and suggestions welcomed.

Cheers

Kingy

Year round DD/Auto X build

Just picked up my 2006 Si coupe last week, bone stock, 120,000km. My goals with this car is a year round daily driver I can take to autocross in the summer and maybe a track day or too. Right now I’m still in school and working part time so I still have some saving to do but once I sell my other car and start working in the summer I’ll have money to blow :) Once I sell my car in the spring I plan on picking up RPF1’s with summer tires and coilovers or springs depending on how much I have left to spend, till then it’s just little things here and there. If anyone has suggestions on autocross mods and handling mods that would be awesome, I’m thinking a rear sway bar and a bucket seat? Let me know what you guys think, any help is appreciated. I plan on keeping my engine stock for the summer and next winter save up for bolt ons and a tune

Wanted to share the progress of my car, and also so I have a thread to add to as I go. I have a 2007 Si, which I've had since 09. Finally bit the bullet and got my FD2 conversion done.

2009: here's how it all started: purchased used with HFP lip kit installed. Otherwise pretty standard.

Played around with red pin stripes on the wheels and the grille

Then got some projector retrofit with RPF1s. Lowered on HPF suspension for a while.

Replaced the Front grille with a black piece

Eventually fitted with ichiba 15mm spacers. I later had problems with the nuts stripping, so I don't really recommend these to be honest, just get wheels with the proper offset

2010: Greddy Ti-C was up next

2010: swapped out the map and dome lights for LEDs.

2011: BC Racing coilovers to lower the car even more. I forget the spring rates, but still riding on these today.

2012: new wheels, Varrstoen ES2?

2015: Decided it was time to upgrade the headunit. Got myself Pioneer AVIC 6100NEX

Also followed the DIY and replaced the stitching with RED. Took several hrs to do, but worth it

2017: few interior bits added, CF ebrake and shifter cover. CTR shift knob

2018: Finally, CTR conversion. Here's the shipment from Streetlightz.

VIS CF hood

Getting started with the conversion...

Front bumper support needs to be trimmed on the edges for the FD2 bumper to fit

and she's done!

I've got a Mugen lip on the way, so that will be up next...

Hello! I'm new to 8th gen, but was an active H-T guy since 02.

I got a 06 Si in 2009 that I loved, best car I ever owned. When someone offered me what I paid for it nearly ten years ago, so I sold it.

Also I'm always building a few different cars at once so you might see picture of my B swapped turbo crx, or supercharged EG (Picture is from when it had a turbo-d) every once in a while. :)
