It all started about 3 years ago, after I totaled my car (2010 Lancer GTS). My gf at the time was relatives with the GM at a local acura dealer. At the time i was a straight car noob, i knew nothing about them or even been in anything sporty or with any sort of performance. I saw the civic and decided to check it out. The car was already modded by the previous owner. It had a Strup race header, Magnaflow catback, D2 coilovers, and the Rota's, and it was tuned. Stock intake. As soon as they rolled it out I heard the exhaust and got super excited :giggle: I took it for a test drive and having never been in anything nearly as sporty or quick, i had a blast in it :vtec: the high rev limit was amazing to me! So i bought it
Sorry, I don't have many pics of the early days of owning it..but:
Heres how it looked when I bought it
Ditched the magnaflow for a S2 70mm exhaust
Put in some Recaro door inserts and S2 shift knob
Being the noob I was, i got an Injen "rep" intake off ebay and painted my mani cover and got a yospeed battery tie down
Thats about all I did to it until I got bored and wanted more!! I wanted a turbo but it was just too expensive. I found a great deal on a JRSC so I went that route!
Also painted the VC red. I put down 280whp @ ImportDPS
Some cosmetic stuff. I got really sick of the gold wheels and didnt even like them much to begin with. Painted them white!
Some more cosmetic stuff, I cleared my headlights and got an HFP front lip!
Got a skunk2 megapower header to replace my POS strup header :giggle:
I made a custon 3.5" intake and got an MDX TB. No pics of the tb :( also painted the VC white
I ordered a MercRacing stage 2 aftercooler and, after waiting
6 months, it finally arrived..
The bell core
MercRacing high flow inlet
Bellcore installed in the manifold
Everything installed. paint matched intake to the vc
I did a custom mount job of the aftercooler heat exchanger, and cut out the front of the bumper for a cool look!
I got rid of the carbon fiber hood because it had a crack and was frayed around the edges from being worn. I wanted a nice clean OEM look. So did a direct trade with someone for an oem hood.
Threw in some energy suspension lca bushings
Ran this setup all winter before touching the car again. I then finally ordered BBG!
Also got an AEM wideband. I didnt have a gauge pod yet, so I made this awesome custom gps mount for it :giggle:
I finally ordered new wheels!!After 3 years of my current ones it was really time to make a change. I ordered a brand new set of Rota Torques 17x9 +30 in hyper black, wrapped in brand new S Drives 235/40. These aren't mounted yet, but they will be soon! Will have to do some test fitting and possibly roll fenders and such
I wanted to push the JRSC as much as I could, unported! So I ordered a K24 crank pulley off the RDX. Its lighter than all the other k24 cp's out there.
With the help of snizzletoff, I got this installed just before the IMW dynoday. The night we installed it, the car felt absolutely amazing! It pulled insanely hard, however i didnt get a chance to adjust my tune for it. And also, my injectors were being maxed out! I put down 351whp @8000rpm, untuned on IMW dynapak. On the second pull, I put down 354whp @8100rpm. If I had the chance to finish tuning my car and rev the car to the full 8600rpm, I would undoubtedly have made 370+whp!
On my way back from IMW, while cruising along on the highway i heard this loud bang and I thought i just ran something over. But a moment later, my battery light suddenly came. I was  as this never happened before, then I noticed my car was severely overheating! I pulled over and popped my hood and it turns out the pulley on the blower snapped right off! That bang I heard was the pulley breaking off and flying across the bay. The alternator and water pump stopped turning due to the belt coming off. I was frantic and trying to figure out what to do, so I didnt get any pics of it that moment. but here is the pulley and blower
We believe it was a combination of the belt being way too tight and the bolt on the pulley was extremely rusted.
Either way, I had no choice but to remove the blower and go back go n/a for the time being :sadbanana: I'm looking at the bright side, and taking this chance to send my blower out to Stieg to get rebuilt, ported, get a venom cooler installed, and lightweight rotors installed! I plan to be the first one to use the light rotors in an m62 and push this blower even further!
I have also contacted Jose @ MercRacing in regards to an air to air cooling setup for the M62. He has a prototype manifold in the works that will work on ANY blower. He has asked that I join the list to receive this. I wont disclose pricing, but it is about a 4 month wait time. Im heavily thinking about doing this! I'll see how it goes and what I decide to do within the next couple of months.
