*Ricky07's FG2 Build*

Hello 8th!
Decided it would be fun to document my 'build' considering I have never done this with any of my previous Honda's. I have owned somewhere in the range of 11-12 cars which consisted mainly of 96-00 Civic's & several Integra's. My GGM FG2 is the first 'newer' model car I have been fortunate enough to purchase. This SI is my daily grind so I plan to keep my modifications to mostly aesthetics for the time being.

(sorry the picture quality isn't so great for the time being)

Here is a shot or two of my previous EM1.

Now onto the new ride. Purchased it roughly 2 months ago.
Shortly after I got the car I vinyl wrapped the roof in light grey carbon fiber because Texas sun gave it a small patch of the notorious fading.

I also purchased a Circuit Hero shift extender & Blox 490 knob.

Considering I have been daily driving static on coilovers with all my previous cars I decided to go a different route with the FG2. Tired of buckling fenders and destroying city titties with my exhaust. I love being extremely low but not being able to drive a lot of places gets tiring over the years.

After over a month of waiting I received my first major batch of goodies.

And here she is now. Aired out. The install took me almost 20 hours of labor over a 3 days span of time. I was not expecting it to be this time consuming but I had never installed bags before and ran into several bumps while doing the install. My air lines are still a bit of a mess in the cabin

I have several more parts on the way and I am still browsing around for the right pair of shoes for her. I'd also like a set of Recaro's, Status seats or something of that nature.

Welp, figured I have enough stuff coming in now that I get a thread started and some pics up to show off. Car is a 2010 NHBP FG2; I'm just a guy that likes his car and living in Canada. I'll update this as stuff gets purchased, installed, etc.

Build as of: 07/21/2013

Current Mods:
Flashpro - running basemap
Injen Black series CAI

Hopes for the future:
In the long run, this baby is going to be a K24 frank swap to be a N/A beast, maaaaaybe turbo/SC it later on if I get bored. Low key on any external mods: keep the popo happy and avoid all the fly-by ricers...

Car Bone Stock (Pics from late 2012):

Injen Black Series Intake (FlashPro purchased a little later on). Forgot to take some pics of the install. I'll take some pictures of how and where it sits later on:

07/21/2013:
New purchases!!!! WOOOO!
Finally picked all of this stuff up from Ogdensburg a couple days ago (Us Ottawa Canadians -or at least this guy - ship to the UPS store there to save a wee on international shipping):

Godspeed Rear Camber Arms, purple:

Hasport 70a Rear Motor Mount (Thanks RoBear!):

Replica Beaks rear tie bar, purple (Purchased from user here on 8th. FS thread stated it was a rep. Who really cares anyways? Only for aesthetics):

EM1 CMC (again purchased from a member here on 8th; you guys rock!):

Vibrant Race Header with HFC (purchased used from 8th):

The whole stash :umad: :

I'll update with some install pics later on!

Feel free to leave comments, questions, requests, suggestions below. Keep it constructive, haters are always gonna hate.

Ok so I am not a race car driver :( not a crazy fast driver :\ just another guy who likes a nice looking and riding car who can have fun when he wants..

Here she is the day I got her, this is my wife and I. (Hopefully pic inserted)

The truck in the background is what I traded in for her, a 06 tacoma lifted and armored 60k something miles.

Went to 09 Civic Si with 50k miles.

Windows were already tinted so bam didn't need to do that.

1st Mod - Minion (Pics coming)

2nd Mod - EM1 CMC

3rd Mod - K&N CAI (pics coming)

4th Mod - Eibach Prokit Springs (More pics coming)

List of Mods wanted, Double Din (Open to suggestions), Flashpro, Hybrid shifter bushings, Possibly darker tint 5%, 06-08 Shifter to do a shifter mod I read on Arrestmered's build, Speakers, Laser Shifter from Escort Radar, That's all for now.

Open to all advice/suggestions/opinions.

More pics coming soon this thread won't move to fast but it will slowly.

My wife and I are planning a cross country trip and the car is going with us so any advice on that as well is welcome. From East to west back to east!

Hi ladies and gents,

You all may remember me from my sedan. NHBP that won ROTM in December of 2010.

http://www.8thcivic.com/forums/car-b...-nhbp-fa5.html

Well I parted ways with my baby and started another build that owns my heart. I traded it in on an type of vehicle that has always held a special place with me, a DSM. Owned a Talon in high school, regretting selling that when I did. So therefore..

Traded it on an Evo 8 at a local dealership. You may ask...

Did I get screwed in the deal? Yes
Do I miss my Si? Sometimes
Am I crying over spilt milk? Not at all

So I ran with what I got, and after much sweat, plenty of blood, and no tears, but MANY curse words and temper tantrums, heres how is where we sit today..

Interior:
All stock
No seats except driver (unless the wife wants to ride with me)
Buddy club shift knob (From the Si :) )

Exterior:
DIY Blackout Headlight Housing
Ralliart Mirrors
JDM Depot Taillights
Seibon Carbon Fiber Trunk

Performance:
Injen UICP
Injen Intake
HKS 272 Cams
ETS 3" Intercooler
VRSF LICP
Evo 9 Turbo (Bigger than 8)
Toxic Fab Manifold
O2 Dump
3" TBE
Torque Solutions Motor Mounts
Competition Clutch Stage 5 Clutch
BC Racing Coilovers
MBC

Makes ~360whp on 23lbs

As always, QUESTIONS AND COMMENTS WELCOME

Help! Rear mugen lip kit not fitting right..

I recently have purchased and installed a mugen rear lip Unfortunatly off of ebay Already had it painted and installed... It just dosent seem to look right, I think one of my major issues is getting my exhaust tip to stick out more and lower it more, is that easy to do? Do I need to buy a bigger hanger? Or does the rear bumper just looks like it won't fit or won't look right 300$ later.. I will appreciate all feedback Attachment 78018

Rallye Red FA5 from Texas

hey everyone I bought my '09 sedan in 2012 and i've been slowly adding parts as I go. i had a crx a while ago and i loved it but i ended up selling it and didn't have a Honda for a while. Well i found this and its an awesome car. Im a machinist so i love making things when I can and am studying to become a mechanical engineer so i dont feel like over paying for parts when i can make them myself.

This is how it was when i bought it.

the first thing i did since i knew i would be making a CAI was to make a battery tray to relocate it on the lower inside of the frame in from of the tranny.

After i had done that i bought some piping and couplers to make a CAI, and a RBC to port and bore the opening for a J37 TB.

the adapter i was making

the opening i bored to match the J37.

cut open and cleaning it up

welded up

polished with the J37 tb

After that i got some Boomba mounts for cheap and a set of Hybrid shifter cable bushings.

I got tuned by vitviper and the car felt a lot better just with those few things. not long after that i started noticing a noise on cold starts after the car had been sitting for a while. i told it to Honda and they didn't want to take it apart unless they knew exactly what the problem was. so after fighting with them i decided to fix it on my own. i researched it and i concluded it was the same problem the 09 accords were having with the VTC actuator.
I ordered a new VTC, timing chain and tensioner, and i figured since i was going to have everything apart i might as well change the cams and valvetrain as well. lol
Drag cartel 2.2 and supertech dual valvesprings

after all that i got rid of the noise.
at the same time i put on a PLM header but didn't take any pics. I spent too much on all that and didn't get an exhaust when when i was getting tuned the stock exhaust was restricting me way too much. I got a skunk2 3" exhaust but replaced the muffler with a Magnaflow and welded a turndown on the end.

now it feels awesome but im still in the process of tuning.

a couple little details i did was some low profile valve cover studs i made out of stainless. i drilled and tapped the oem stud for the flat head bolt thru the stainless washer.

Then i made a spark plug cover out of stainless to get rid of the ugly black one.

and i also made a catch out of aluminum to keep oil vapors out of the intake manifold.

I wrapped the door panels and shift boot in red suede and made a little shifter extended, i think it feels a little better and its easier to hit the gears i think.

And that's pretty much it. I don't have wheels yet but I am dropped on godspeed coil overs and Ingals camber sliders in the back. this is hoe she sits right now but i will have some better pics up tonight hopefully.

and this is the new color i did my Vc yesterday.

Solo Driver. Issy's Slow Build

I've always been kind of a loner. Sure I've made some friends here and there through school and activities, and I have a few friends that I've met in the car scene. But other than that, I've spent most of my time in my own thoughts and my own work. After the holidays, my interest in cars, alone, was somewhat replaced with the driving experience. But that won't stop me from modifying...

To be honest, I wasn't in the "car scene" when I bought it. It was unmolested for about 2 years before I did stuff. A friend told me I should join a forum. It was both a good thing and a bad. Good, that I've learned a bunch of stuff and bad, that I've ran into some people with a superiority mentality and no humility.

Most recent Edyno:

So here it is stock and untouched.

Maybe a few months later, I picked up a cold air intake and painted my wheel white.

Also was dropped on Tein S-Tech springs and had the JDM emblems.

Got a good deal on a Full Race exhaust.

Also got a good deal on a GO Power header.

Got out of the "JDM" thing and decided to be different. BLUE!

Wheels went to black. White showed too much dirt and dust.

Got FlahPro and picked up a custom 3.5" intake. Painted it blue (of course).

Got a J35 Throttle Body from AutoFair.

Got the front and rear HFP lips

Got rear ended and flew into a tow hitch in front. Camry behind wasn't paying attention. Her car barely suffered.

So I was out of a car for 2.5 weeks and was in the middle of tuning with Vit. Sucked.

I structure this build to be more of a story than just straight progression; a chance for me to relay my experiences to whoever wants to read.

There will, obviously, be more to come, slowly. As always, the build will never ever end...

Hello 8thgen, I've been going back and forth on what to do with my '08 Galaxy Grey FA5 and I think I finally came to a conclusion. I'm going to go ahead and do what Honda does best; making a high compression, high revving, naturally aspirated, torqueless sport compact that surprises its competition.

Here's when I first got it in January.

Some more pictures.

Here are some things I ordered in May.

Pictures from June after I installed my intake, header, exhaust, rear mount.

Now here's what I picked up the start of August.
K24A4 - 80,000kms (50,000mi)

I absolutely love how well the car works since the I/H/E, the car surprises quite a few people when they try to run down my 4dr SI.
Over the summer I had the SI to all the drag weekends so far, I started off with a 14.7@99mph for my first event now I'm down to 14.202@101mph, hopefully breaking into the 13's during the last event.

Here's what my all motor build should look like:
K24A4 bottom end
Manley H-beam rods
Wiseco pistons - 12.5:1 CR
PRB oil pump
Balanced rotating assy.
K20Z3 head
Supertech VT
***Drag Cartel cams (3.2 or 4)

RBC matched to J37 TB
Skunk2 Alpha series header
Full-race 3" exhaust
Skunk2 3 1/2" CAI
RDX injectors

All feedback welcome.

SCCA stock/street autocross build 2007 fa5

$

Hello all,

I am planning on building my civic to the proposed rules for SCCA solo 2014 season. I want to see if there is any interest on the 8th forum. I will not make any significant mods until the rules are voted on.

Brief background about me. I have been autocrossing for years, and this year been more active by attending about 2 events a month. The car is stock on 3 summer tires. I want to take it to the next level with the allowed modifications. My prospected mods are below! Estimated prices too.

Any ideas are greatly appreciated!

Driver:
Advance drivers school ($200-300)

Wheels and tires:
G-force rivals 225-45r17 x4 ($650)
<15lb 17x7 ($900)

Anti-roll/sway bars
Front Elibac?? (?$150)
Rear Progress adjustable 24mm (?$200)

Alignment (need to know future rules):
Crash/camber bolts
Rear plates?

Suspension (new rules?):
Koni adjustable

Engine:
K&N drop in ($30)

Catback:
Not interested in this but maybe Mugen

5-6 point harness maybe

Mods that might have a placebo effect:
Gas light on
Clean injectors
No wiper fluid
Synthetic oil

Now some useless pictures!
Useful pictures when the build starts.

Hello everyone! I have been around the 8th for some time now and absolutely love this site, it is the most useful thing for any civic owner. With that said I have been taking full advantage of the DIY sections to get my fill of modding. I have used many of the DIYs to add to my car making what it is now. I have an 08 GG LX Coupe, so as the title says its slow and I know it, automatic too :umad:! Therefore all of my mods are purely for aesthetics since I would be wasting my time and money (more than I already waste) trying to make the little R18 go fast. So, without further ado I present you my liberally illuminated vehicle.

Exterior:
-Mini H1 6.0 Headlight Retrofit
-Cleared corners
-Blue Headlight Glow
-Blue Projector Glow (Removed)
-Engine Bay Lights
-HFP Suspension
-EX Wheels
-HD Lip
-Debadge
-LED Tag Lights
-CB Speaker

Interior:
-Foot Well Lights
-Under Door Lights
-Door Handle Lights
-Door Pocket Lights
-Under radio Pockets Lights
-Cup Holder Lights
-Super Bright Trunk Lights
-LED Map and Dome Lights
-Extra Power Ports
-CB Radio for PA Function (Yelling at other drivers is fun!)

Well, That is most of it. I will add some more pics once I decide to detail the car and go somewhere for pictures. I really love doing electrical work with these cars so if anyone needs info or help with a project let me know I'd be glad to give any input I can.
