This is my '11 ASM FA5, Her name is Maria :)

Hey guys, this is my 2011 Alabaster Silver Metallic FA5, and I call her Maria~ :vtec:

Some background is that I got into the Honda game pretty late, right about when the 9thgen civic was going to come out. So therefore finding a 8thgen Fa5 was pretty hard. Thankfully I got some help when i PM'd CollegeHillsHonda and he helped me do an inventory check. I actually picked up one of the last 2011 FA5's in Socal short of driving to San Fran. And so a 2 hour drive later to Ventura and thats when I first saw Maria (with 161 miles on the odo) and drove her home.

My modding philosophy isnt really what the kids are into these days with the dumped cars and w.e, Im more of a Function > Form guy so i hope you guys enjoy my slow car build :) Ill try to keep this thread updated!
As of 10/30/13, Maria has almost 39k miles and ive always done fluid changes myself (oil every 3-5k and trans every 15k) with Amsoil 5w30 (used to use Mobile 1 but switched a year ago) and Redline MTL.

Heres the PM convo from CollegeHillsHonda:

I am going to purchase a new car very shortly and since you work at a dealer, i was wondering if you could check the inventory for the dealerships around me to see if they have a new '11 Si sedan in stock? My zip code is 91789 and I've been wanting to buy a FA5 for a little over a year now. I've personally been through about 15+ honda dealership websites near me and still havn't been able to locate a new Si Sedan (FA5). It would really mean a lot to me if you found a new FA5 for me. I am willing to drive 150 miles + to any dealership and i personally don't really care for color since the car is so hard to find already.

If you are unable to search dealership inventory around me, is there any other way to locate such a car?

Sincerly,
Thomas Lee (maruipro)

Try the following dealerships. They are the last ones to show a Si in stock.

Norm Reeves Honda
Ocean Honda
Livermore Honda
Vista Honda
Mel Rapton Honda

The first night I got her home!

Before I even thought about getting a Honda, I had a friend named Eric ('09 Fa5) and hes the one that actually convinced me to get a civic hehe. Its pretty funny considering how far we've gone now.

First few mods, XenonDepot HID's and M&M Air intake Scoop (OH SO JDM!):

Just for *****

Went to a Dynoday at Raceline and heres a overlay of Maria (stock) vs Eric's i/h/e Fa5.

Went to Adams in Riverside. pretty fun :) Stock tires suck tho. Pretty hilarious considering how i killed a set of 400 treadwear tires in the first 11k of Maria's life

Fell asleep on the hwy and got into an accident... Probably one of the saddest days I've had. I know that something was protecting me and maria that day

Got her repaired at Marcos Collisions in Temple City and man they did a really nice job! Basically cut off and rewelded on a new front radiator support and repainted with some highend paint too!

When I got her back!

Since my old HID kit got destroyed in the accident, I decided to get some s2000 ap1 projectors and have them retrofitted by Joonjoon. It sure is awesome lighting up all 6 lanes of the freeway!

Heres a few more pics of maria and me at willow springs, my first time at a real track! Went with stock everything except a intake and vit tune + bald ass V12's that were badly heatcycled. The car broke 30k on the odo otw there :dancingcoolsmiley: Went with a goal of 1:45 and got 1:41.4. Learned a lot and had a ton of fun setting my brakes on fire. Cant wait to go back one day :)

I was datalogging all 5 sessions and on the 4th session, the car heated up to 208* on the track and was knocking a bit. Emailed vit and he retuned me again after and everything was perfect once again! Then came the Full Race and yet another retune! ;)

Look what i did to the soft sidewalls of my tires!

:vtec:

Just a few months ago, I put on a Full Race 3' Exhaust, ASP 4-1 Header, RDX injectors, and a retune from Vit! Drove to Ventura and had K20z3allmotor install the header and injectors for me. IMO, hes probably one of the best 8thgen mechanics out there!

Man this bolt sure was a bichh

Plenty of clearance here!

Found out my K20 has all AAAA Pistons!

Got some 70a Hasport Motor Mounts to protect dat beautiful header!

Got another pair of ap1's and saving them for a possible future JDM retrofit ;)

Friend got a 2013 TW Si Sedan. Its pretty nice :)

Redline MTL Transmission Flush!

Got a Hytech Oil Pan Baffle for future track events! Has 4 trap doors, just need to get the type s pump and install.

Vitviper sent me a sticker!! Thank you Vit! OTW to San Diego.

Heres what the car makes now. Keep in mind this is a edyno and i was in the middle of getting tuned, hence the cams locked to a different * every run. Not too bad considering im still using the stock airbox and oem honda air filters!

-raqh- 09 FA1 slow build

Been a while that I'm on the 8th, thought I'd start a tread to show my slow progress and keep track of what i'm doing.

I bought this little R18 at the beginning of summer 2013. It is a 2009 CDM DX-G MT. Got it with only 53K KMs (about 33k Miles). Got the car completly stock except for some 3M clear protectors and the wheels (DX-Gs come with the hybrid wheels), the last owner kept the wheels and slapped on his brand new 2013 civic rims and hubcaps. Not too bad considering I hate the hybrid wheels and I intended to change them anyways, so I have the rims for winter... Sadly I broke my foot and fibula at work and couldn't drive stick till mid july, so I had little money but a lot of time doing small things on the car.

This is my daily driver and I must say first, I chose the FA1 for simple reasons. I might not be a student anymore but I'm still kinda broke as we are saving for a house... Sooooo, I needed a car that is reliable, good on gas and still somewhat fun to drive.

This build is oriented on economy, confort and style/personnal preference. I have no intentions to ever SC or TC this car, so power gain is pretty much out of the equation. You can hate on my lack of performance will or the fact I use replica parts here and there, I couldn't care less.

How it stands now:

First thing I did when I got the car was to paint both front and rear trims color match CBP. Couldn't stand the chrome, I think it looks much better blacked out.

I also found some 06-08 Si stockies and wrapped them in Hankook Ventus V2 Concept.

Later that month, I managed to pick up a ton of little things I wanted to put on the car and now i'm still looking to get her a little nicer and more of my own over time.

Engine:

-K&N drop in filter
-Greedy magnetic oil drain plug
-Skunk2 replica batterie tie-down

Wheels, Suspension and breaks:

-06-08 Si stockies
-Hankook Ventus V2 Concept
-Si RSB

Exterior:

-Color match front and rear trims
-AVS Stone and Bug deflector (I know I already got 3M but I found over the years it really helps with stones damage, might be overkill but whatever...)
-Wide angles side mirrors (Call me a grandma, I like the look of it and it helps a lot in my appartment building ****ty parking lot)
-Si replica exhaust tip (Si axleback in the mail!)

Interior:

-Skunk2 replica shift knob
-Volvo sunglasses holder

In the mail/waiting for instal:

-Eibach Pro-kit
-Si axelback

On the shopping list:

-Tints
-STI lip
-Fogs
-Hyper yellows DRL
-Rear roof spoiler
-Seat covers
-Hybrid cable and base bushings

On the wish list (ain't happening soon):

-Retrofit
-Sparco Assetto gara - Bronze
-Bride fabric interior dress up
-Em1 CMC (if the CMC ajustment, bushings and redline MTL don't eleminate my shifting problems)

I wanted White or Black. But found a deal on silver I could not pass up.
Here is How I bought the car.

Exterior:
Mugen Replica Window Visors
Faves Racing Rear Window Spoiler
17 X 9 XXR 962 Wheels
Eibach Sportline Springs
15% Window Tint On Rear With Eyebrow
8K HID Low Beam
JDM Blue Bulb High Beam
Yellow Lens Fog Lights
3K HID Fog Lights
LED Tag Light

Engine:
Boomba Motor Mounts
Fujita SRI
NST Underdrive Pulleys
Cobb Access Port Stage 2 Tune
DC Race Header
Skunk 2 76mm Exhaust
Exhedy OEM clutch
P2R Throttle Body Spacer

First thing I did was start on the sound system.

Also added HID Low beams and fogs

Added 20% tint to the front windows.

Thats all that has ben done. I Think my struts are about to go so suspension upgrade is probably my next purchase. I need to do something, the car just does not feel like it is mine. Not exactly sure for future mods.

I just wanted to have a place in while I could keep track of the things I do to my car and figured why not share?! :wavey:

I purchased the Car Presidents' Day 2013 (Feb. 18th) at Elk Grove Subaru in Northern California. Car was in pristine condition with 55K on the clock.

Function is the Form: ATL Si's Turbo Build

$

Seeing as the turbo section is a little dead, I'm a views whore and I want a thread to focus on my car in a more holistic way, I'm starting a build thread in this section. Mods, if there is a problem with this, lmk but I would really like to keep this thread :)

Anywho, I have been through so much with this car (see my first round with it --> http://www.8thcivic.com/forums/car-b...sis-build.html) it's not even funny. But this build right here is the manifestation of countless hours spent reading and emailing and doing anything I could to gather information about what I could do to my Si.

My goal was to turn this Civic into something that is a blast to drive and is punishingly fast, while still maintaining a stock motor. More importantly, I want to use parts that are made with both quality and performance in mind. Because if there is one thing I have learned over the 4 years I have had this car, it's that doing it right the first time (or at least trying to lol) pays off in the end.

This build would have been DOOMED without the incredible amounts of help from Mark Abernathy, aka Origin Fabrication and would have been a lot more painful without the help of Geoff at Full-Race and a certain secret squirrel ;) I owe more thanks to you guys than you know!

So this past summer I decided to sell my K20/24 with the intents of doing what I consider the 'holy grail' of Si performance mods, going turbo. I was able to sell my entire setup for a stock K20 and cash on top. I decided on purchasing a Full-Race EFR kit with the 7670, as I admire Full-Race's quality and the EFR is definitely a unique turbo. If you want to see pics of the actual install or are interested in going turbo, I highly suggest you read this: http://www.8thcivic.com/forums/turbo...l#post12760257

Some Pics of my Manifold and Intercooler :usa::turbospin:

I chose the twin disc because I knew it would never slip, and if I decide to really go nuts with the power I will not need to upgrade again.

JoTech Stage 2 Transmission

Downpipe, welds look great! :dancing:

After we got the turbo kit on, I realized that I needed an exhaust since I sold my awesome Full-Race unit with my K24. I decided to do something pretty different, and got a custom Origin Fabrication 3" Titanium Straight Pipe. This is probably the most incredible thing on my car from a craft standpoint. It is quieter around town and highway cruising inside the car than the Full-Race was before (thanks to the turbo), and sounds full-on ridiculous at WOT. Not to mention the entire thing weighs 9 pounds! Mark is truly great with Ti.

Some Facts:
- All 3" ID American-Made Ti
- All bends pie cut
- Entirely hand welded by Mark Abernathy, aka Origin Fabrication
- V-Band flange hand turned out of a solid block of Ti, also by Mark
- took over 25 hours for Mark to complete the exhaust
- I'm trying to decide if I like the turn-down or if a straight tip would be better

After the exhaust was put on the car, we got set to really trying to work the tune. But before this happened, some bad luck hit. Possibly due to some overheating immediately after install and some curiously loose head studs, my head gasket blew. On top of this, when the head was stripped it was discovered that I was sold the motor with 8 bent exhaust valves. Awesome. So I added new valvetrain to the mod list. Here are some pics of the head when it got back from the machine shop. I think it looks great :D

Hey everyone..The reason for this post is to see people's inputs on the build I want to do. I'm new to motor building..This will be my first.

I'm going with the kraftwerks s/c but want to build the motor a tad before hand. Such as porting and internals to make it stronger..obviously.

my mods now are..hybrid racing cai, s2 megapower header, full race exhaust and flashpro..

input on next step and how you would go about the build would be greatly appreciated and very very helpful. Especially from people who have done builds before...

Thanks everyone!

Alright guys, so I originally came from a 2009 mazdaspeed3, fully bolted and tuned at 19lbs of boost. It was a great car and fun but had it's fair share of annoying problems. I was going to build that until I started hanging around a bunch of 8th gen guys and they sort of swept me up into the Honda game. A little weird coming from a boosted car to an all motor but I saw the potential the SI had in terms of doing almost anything from super to turbocharging to frank swapping. The aftermarket was endless and also the support. So.....this bring me to where I am now in my 09, Redline Orange Pearle fg2 coupe. (Pictures will be up later).

Now this brings me to my build. I was going back and forth on turbo, super charging or frank swapping. I figured Id keep it the way Honda intended and build an all motor beast BUT for my DD as well. Heres my build plans:

Frank Swap k20/k24:

Parts I already have:

PnP by Tom Gonzalez aka Tommy Gunz Fully Built Skunk2 k20z3 Head:

Skunk2 Pro Series Exhaust Cam Gears

Skunk2 Tuner Series Stage 3 Camshafts v3

Skunk2 Pro Series Intake Manifold Black Series (port matched to head)

Skunk2 Pro Series Titanium Retainers

Skunk2 Pro Series Valve Springs

Skunk2 Triton Valve Stem Seals

Skunk2 Pro Series High Compression Valves

A bunch of other brand new OEM Honda parts also which I forgot

PnP and Port Matching was done on intake and exhaust side of the head with 5 angle valve job and port matched intake manifold.

Hybrid Racing 3.5" Intake Kit

Skunk2 Alpha header

Boomba Motor Mounts

Flashpro

Full Race 3" Exhaust System

Mods Coming up in the future:

Engine:
ERL Shortblock or KMOD shortblock

87.5 over

BC Rods or Manley Rods

CP pistons 12:1 (because the head is said to produce .3 which would put the 12:1 CR at 12.3:1 in a sense)

ID 1000cc Injectors

DW65 FP

Most likely an RRC oil pump or KMOD oil pump

Hybrid Racing Fuel Rail w/FP gauge

ARP head studs

Stock timing chain tensioner

Skunk2 90mm TB or J37 TB

Haven't decided on a clutch yet

All Supporting mods to fit the K24 such as motor mounts and such

All necessary gaskets and hardware

A bunch of engine dress up after all the parts are in

Suspension:

Probably D2 Coils

Godspeed rear camber arms

Tuning:
Most likely going to Evans Tuning because I'm pretty close and want a dyno tune after break in.

PICTURES WILL BE UP SOON OF THE HEAD lol.

That is all for now.

Alright so the car has come a long way and i dont have pics of all of it, so ill share what i can

Car has been vittuned from the start, shout out to an AWESOME tuner-very affordable and newb friendly

SEP 2012
Car started like this 2008 civic si sedan rr with about 85k miles on it, picked it up ,just after a deployment, for 12,500

Attachment 99361

First mods were a k&n sri and flashpro, which is when i fell in lover with the car
(no pics)

around December i noticed the clutch start to slip, and boy was replacing it fun,
after stripping the studs on the trans during removal and spending 4 hours getting it out and re-tapping(crooked thanks to drunk dad lol)

Christmas day 2012

Attachment 99369 Attachment 99377 Attachment 99385

FEBRUARY 2013
shortly after that, i bought a comptech stage 2 blower from BRAZILIANBOY here on the forum along with some id1000 injectors off another member

Attachment 99417

Intake was temporary, it now has j37/imt inlet(again bought off the forum here) and 4" homeade cai -which was a hybrid racing cai for 3 months-sold it and kept the battery relocate

then came my most infamous purchase

Attachment 99433

APRIL 2013

invidia rh and q300 were soon to follow(from a vendor here on the site) along with 70a hasport rear also purchased from BRAZILIANBOY and injected front and top motor mounts

MAY 2013 car also has hfp suspension all around, installed at 100k around

come july i upgraded to a cc stage 2 clutch (now dead) and purchased a smaller pulley 3.0 and cooler(imt stage 2 bought off the forum here for 600$ :wheeeeeeee:)

this is how the car sits now and this is what it runs on 235/40 nitto neogens, on mugen gps (bought off another member of my car club)sorry about the lack of technical info, i just figured id start a build thread to keep track of past setups

Attachment 99441 Attachment 99449

best updates i have through mods is partial 3rd gear pulls stored on my computer which read as follows

all contain comptec blower and id1000 cc injectors, all vittuned(except first time) pulls are 20-65 mph

3.15 pulley, stock header/exhaust, homade intake time 7.3 sec
3.15 pulley, rh/q300 hybrid racing cai 7.0 sec (1/8th mile 8.9)
3.0 pulley, j37/inlet, hybrid racing cai 6.2 sec (1/8 mile 8.7)
3.0 pulley, j37/inlet, 4" cai merc stage 2 ac 5.3 seconds ( 1/8 mile 8.4 and 1/4 mile 12.8)

:wheee:

it may be a bit of fun, cant wait to make it fast, its going into hibernation next month for year (another deployment)

My other car...

Also wanted to add, this was my first fwd car, didn't know what vtec was or what si meant, never took it over 4k on the test drive, just knew it was a manual 4 door and i had a lot of driving ahead of me (6k in 4 months) and it paid its own bill for the first 6 months in just gas savings lol-plus knew the ex wife wouldn't want it in my pending divorce - her response "you bought a honda????(disgusted face)", :winning:

Btw, happy to say my car is almost entirely built from this sites fs section and knowledge i gained here

:badger:So you're interested in modding your SI, but you don't want to get caught on a wrong path, and have to back track, spending more money and time.

Some of us don't have the patience, or are on a budget, and want to make the most of what we got.

Reason why I'm making this is because I never came across a simple beginnner/noob guideline to at least give me a few pointers on what mods to start with, which one comes first, and what the benefits are.

Having to search for your advancement in the car world is a way of learning, and sometimes it is grueling, and a pain in the ass. You will get flamed, beat down and trolled, it is the inevitable. You will also come across information that will not be exactly correct, and you may make a mistake you weren't expecting.

So further more I present a small simple guide for FAQ's amongst a new modder.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Step 1.

>>Flashpro<< $500-650

Easily obtainable, not to expensive, automall 8th civic littered with em, and generally sold in great condition because every 8th owner treats that like an Ancient Artifact
If you have two paychecks a month, and save $75 a paycheck, put in your car piggy bank, you could have flashpro in 7 pay checks.

Bite the bullet and wait for it, it is the best mod you can buy and it is the most cost effective performance mod.

Car is awakened from its deep sedative, performance restrictive sleep and she is ready to scuff up the road and be heard doing so.

Pros- Throttle response, MPG, ability to tune and eliminate codes, turn traction control off completely, turn off certains sensors, and most of all is feel like your in Fast and the Furious

Cons- None

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Step 2.

>>Race Header<< >>Rear Hasport Motor mount<< $400-650

Easily obtainable, roughly same class as purchasing Flashpro, but prices can bend depending on what brand you buy. $75 a paycheck, 5-7 paychecks

To be honest, brand does't really matter, most Race Headers perform the same maybe a few horsepower difference for bottom shelf/top shelf Header.

Skip the thought of Comptech shorty with HFC. It will not make as much power as you'll want, you'll get used to it in no time and the sound isn't as lovable. Ive had the setup and wished I had gone with the Race Header first.

I upgraded to Vibrant Race Header/Catless
Have to say probably the best upgrade next to Flashpro. Makes your Civic roar like she has always wanted, but was never given the appreciation of her ability to.

Couple tips if your purchase the Vibrant Race Header.
1. You might need to cut header hanger a little,
2. You might need to tap the subframe in a litte,

But don't let it discourage you from it, not every part is made perfectly.

To complete this setup is a [REAR HASPORT MOTOR MOUNT] $75-90
Requirement with all Race Headers, just do it at same time itll save you a lot of grief.

Pros- More power, and better sound. Need I state any more?
Cons- Expense but any mod will.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Step 3.

>>Exhaust<< $200-550

Simple, cheaper, and cost effective mod.
About $75 a paycheck about 4-5 paychecks

Any exhaust will be more benificial than stock, and I recommend 2.5" in diameter or bigger. The difference in exhausts is mostly sound, not power, though some are better than others in performance.

Skunk2 70/76mm: Its loud, sounds aggressive, and will make noticable power.

Invidia Q300 70/76mm: Moderately loud, deeper tone, and will make noticable power.

Full Race 70/76mm: Quieter than Q300, aggressive tone, and will make noticable power.

Most exhausts bolt up in a simple procedure

Pros- Noise, and power gain
Cons- How loud do you want your civic to be?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Step 4.

>>Intake<< $150-300

Most simple perfromance mod to install, cheaper than most mods available for power and engine noise. $75 a paycheck, about 4 paychecks.

I do not recommend your average AEM/K&N/Injen intake, especially if you have flashpro. Skip that nonsense of a step which wastes money, and isn't the best power gain for same price as big name brand.

Build your own 3.5" intake. Mats roughly about $200-300

Mats to build-
45 degree mandrel bent tubing from Vibrant.com
2 couplers, one a reducer, and one straight from vibrant.com
1 air filter with velocity stack 3.5" from vibrant.com
1 RSX IAT SENSOR WITH BUNG from Autofair.com
1 Rubber groment at Napa

Tools need to build
Dremel/ power drill
Safety glasses
Masking tape

If you need help building your own, and wiring the sensor, hit me up id gladly skype or facetime you to walk you through it.

If building one doesn't seem like a process you want to tackle, and you'd rather just have one shipped to your door ready to install.

Skunk2 3.5" Intake
Rickspec 3.5" Intake
GoPower 3.5" Intake
Studio 3.5" Intake

Any of these will perform roughly the same, the looks and install is only real thing that differs.

Pros- Cheap and effective, opens up her engine noise level, that vtec sound so admirable.
Cons- None, unless you buy a brand name/ non 3.5" intake

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Step 5.

Whatever you want to go with next is your own choice, but always first if you are going for moderate/street performance.

Flashpro-> Race Header-> Exhaust-> Intake

With a tune, you should join the 200+ HP club.

My setup as far as engine performance made 215+ hp

Home made 3.5" intake, Vibrant Catless Race Header, Skunk2 70mm exhaust, Flashpro tuned by Vitviper

Your car will skoot, its not like a turbo or s/c obviously, but those are the basic fundementals of getting ready for forced induction.

I think any noob will benefit from this, as I wouldve saved money and time if I had a quick thread filled with a basic process of what to do.

>> MY current setup <<

Engine/Transmission

3.5" intake
Vibrant Catless Race Header
Skunk2 70mm Exhaust
J35 Throttle Body/ Throttle Body Spacer w/ gaskets
Intake Manifold Gasket
Skunk2 Fuel rail
Ralco RZ Pulley set
Mugen quickshifter
Hybrid Racing Cable bushings
Ingalls ETD
Ingalls pitch mount
Hasport Rear mount 62a
Home made catch can
Exedy Race Clutch/ Exedy Light weight flywheel

Suspension

Eibach Sportline Springs
Eibach Sway bars
Front Strut Tower bar
Front Tie bar
H Brace
Rear Tie bar

and of course Flashpro

Think I got them all, at least most important.
If you do the first four steps, I think you'll be really happy with your car and will be more enthused to mod it.

Thanks and happy modding-

From FA5 to FG2!!

Whats up. Decided to start a build thread for my new SI. Unfortunately after owning my FA5 for 3 months it was totaled. My father and I had switched cars for the day so I could do some work to his car. On his way to work a elderly man ran a red light and t-boned him. Fortunately my dad was ok but the car was a mess. So after pulling my rims and a few other things off I started looking for a new car. I got such a great deal on my SI I never thought I would find another so I considered other cars. I drove a 6spd TSX, a few subaru wrx's and even a Mazdaspeed 3. Then I came across a 06 GGM SI coupe that came into my work. Its got 90k and is bone stock aside from a HFP muffler. The sales manager pulled it aside for me when they took it in trade. The same day I drove it home. So far ive done a few things. I changed the oil, and trans fluid and put my Rota Torques that I plastidipped white on. Next I picked up a replica HFP lip. I put it on for a week to test fit and get it ready for paint. I also got hybrid racing's EM1 cmc upgrade kit and shifter bushings. This made a huge difference! Shifts are much smoother. When I bought the car I noticed the clutch pedal was very firm so I planned on replacing the clutch. I ordered a exedy oem replacement clutch and some new spark plugs. Those are going in next week. Enough of my rant heres some pics.

Since I'm still on here at times decided to make a build thread of the 9th :hiding:

I know a lot of 8thgen owner's do not like the 9th's and I respect that

To start off, here was my r18 at it's prime.

shad14 by yoitsshad, on Flickr

8thss by yoitsshad, on Flickr

Shad10 by yoitsshad, on Flickr

Decided to part out and trade her in for a 13' fb6.

They couldn't find any white fb6's near my area so it took them 1 week to locate it, they ended up transferring from a dealer 75 miles away from me.

The day after (decided to put my I love driving slow plate frame from my old car, and removed dealer plate frame from front)

Added some Nokya Hyper Yellow Drl's from the r18 and debadged rear civic emblem, also gave her a wash

So I ordered a 35w 5000k hid kit from amazon based on good reviews, installed today but doesn't look like they are 5000k bulbs......

So I emailed them, and they said the bulbs prob got mismatched and they're sending me a new set of 5000k bulbs

Ordered some Zonetech led wedge bulbs from amazon after finding out the 2013's do not use festoon bulbs in the interior anymore.

some comparison pics with a penny and my old festoon bulb from my 8th (which was equivalent in brightness)

License Plate area output with Zonetech led's

and interior output

I still have to figure out what to do with the rear dome light since the socket isn't pointed vertical, it's pointed horizontal. But for now I'm not too worried since I don't use the rear light much anyways.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
So I uninstalled my opt7 hid kit after they sent me replacement bulbs and was still flickering. Bulbs again were very blue for 5000k. I also found out this kit was a dc kit instead of ac....so I uninstalled immediately. Ordered a set of 4300k hid's from my friends company for both fogs and low beams so I hope I'll have better luck when that is installed.

Hids are in

this is what 4300k looked like top and bottom hmmmm

ended up finding some spare 5000k (or is 6?) that I had in storage

aimed down to reduce glare for oncoming drivers

Invidia q300 catback

exhaust is perfect, not loud, just has a deep sound. The axle back however is rattling against the chassis so trying to figure out a solution to that problem.

Torque Solutions Stiffer Exhaust mount (lowered axleback portion of the q300 and eliminated rattling)

Moddiction Anvil Stainless Steel Shift Knob

decided to remove my front plate and cover up the hole they drilled

also tried a new water based tire shine, Surf City

my shift boot kept sagging because I removed oem shiftknob adapter so that it sits lower. Did a secret mod today, and now shift boot is flush without movement :)
also forgot to post a pic of my custom made recaro shift knob cover so took some pics with the cam

Came back from class the other day and noticed that someone dented by rear right door, right on the body line too smh

So....got my dent fixed

I think they did an excellent job

Picked up a injen cai for a good deal

Hello people just wanted to show you my Fa5. Last thing done to it was the FD2 front trunk and taillights. Next will be custom turbo set up with some All Star Boss wheels blacked out.

Also a Video on the Dyno a few months before my last deployment.

09 R18 Build....DX

$

History: Car is a 2009 PMM DX/VP sedan 5 speed

...For anyone who is wondering what separates the DX from the EX and LX, the DX does NOT have cruise control, power locks, center armrest, color matched side mirrors and handles, sunroof, hub caps, and rear discs.

So basically, it sucks.

I bought in May of 2011 with 47,000 on it. Luckily, it already came with power locks(not oem). What bugs me the most is the no armrest deal and no cruise control. I've attempted to buy the parts to do an armrest conversion but they want 100+ just for shipping....so stuffing a towel in the armrest hole will suffice.

Before I joined 8thcivic and cared about what my car looked like, I was big in car audio. So first thing to go in was an aftermarket headunit. Then came amps and subs. I first ran 2 sa 12's:

Then after some time I got really serious and walled the little civic and put in 2 custom 18's:

After slowly killing the car via vibrations, It got old so I went to sell the 18's. While they were sitting in my car, someone decided to break in and steal them. So I said **** it and sold everything car audio related except my highs and headunit.

Then I started focusing on the appearance and joined this lovely site. First thing was the VTEC SOHC vinyls:

Then got the red JDM badges. Also got an si axleback.

Got sick of the ugly chrome so I color matched them. The duplicolor color match cans from AutoZone did a hell of a job matching:

Also changed the JDM emblems to blue. Figured I'd leave the red to the SI's.

Then came the wheels. Don't ask why I did wheels before suspension, I just did. Looked for a 4x4 for only about a week. Wheels are XXR 962 17x9 +35 all around wrapped in Nankang Noble Sport 215/40's. For being 250 shipped for all four tires, they are damn good. Luckily, here in FL, I don't have to deal with snow.

Butdatgapdoe...Oh yeah, also got some mugen visors. Debating on whether I want to get OEM visors or not.
\

And then finally the suspension came. Being on a college budget and just wanting the drop, I went with Raceland. After reading tons of reviews on them for our cars, they seemed pretty solid. I could not find one complaint on them being on 8th's and having problems. And so far, I think they were well worth the money. They ride a bit stiffer than stock, but that's also because I'm running a fairly stretched tire. The front is dropped 2.5" and the rears 2.75". Also have SPC camber bolts up front and SPC rear camber arms. I'm running -1 camber in the back and basically 0 up front.(Alignment dude didn't listen to me) and I don't rub at all. Fenders are stock rolled from the factory. Only thing I did was pull the fender liner up into the fender taps.

From here on out, it's not just smaller things.

I got bored of the grey wheels so I plasti dipped them white. I've always thought white wheels looked good on this color/most color civics.

I was getting tired of seeing the ugly black plastic handles and mirrors so I color matched those as well(duplicolor again ftw).

I went ahead and ordered an SI spoiler and got that put on in about 1 hour lol. Also had an ebay whale tail in the attic that I threw on.

Almost forgot, I put on the s204 sti lip on the other day.

Any my newest addition is the "Not a SI" vinyl/logo combo I got on the trunk. Trolling and sick of people saying, "nice si bro!".

Soooo that's everything as of to date! I'm waiting on my mint blue overlays for the si badge and the JDM badges. I'm also currently looking for 17x9 RPF"s to trade for these or sell these and buy.

The only flaw that my civic still has is the *****y paint Honda decided to use here in the good Ol' USA. My roof is peeling bad and the passenger side fender is starting to fade. Already talked to Honda and it should be going into the shop in a couple weeks.

I do plan on going F/I with this once it's paid off. Why not sell and get an si and boost or get something else? Because, I simply enjoy this car and I want to be different. Everything and their dog boosts an si. I've driven scoobies, rx7's, 240's, si's, you name it. I just like how this feels and drives. I plan on driving it to the ground. Hate on it! :vtec:

Also not pictured, I have a mint blue steering wheel overlay, si shift boot(stock one was falling apart) and a blox shift knob.

How the car currently sits!

Calendar Pic (chosen by 8thCivic)
So decided to finally make a build thread with all the progress since April 2012 :) She's come a long way since the beginning and I hope i can show you all the work I've done to her. I don't expect you to understand or agree with everything I've done to my car but the point of making this thread is to show the progression and different parts that came into play while building. i believe the car scene is different in all places and being from Cali, there are alot of stylistic trends that not all of you may agree with. Being so I respect everyone's Opinions and Here-say. i love my car and i love being in a community that has a passion of creating something new. I've made countless friends at meets and through the internet and each and every one of them have inspired me in a certain way. I Hope You Enjoy My Build, I've learned a great Deal from 8thcivic.com and i'm honored to be on the 2014 calendar as well. If you want super up to date photos of my build Follow Me on Instagram @heydevyn

Enjoy!

Now Onto The Build! I'll try my best to give you dates of when i got them haha.

Alright When I first Got Her April 2012.
My Jeep Cherokee died on me in 2011 and I received this baby as a Graduation/Birthday Gift from the parents. I Pay Insurance and I am very lucky and grateful to get this car. Like most parents, they wanted something reliable, great on gas, and nothing that'll break the bank on Insurance (Reason they didnt get me an si LOL). They surprised me with it and i was ecstatic!

2006 Civic Ex. Ex-Rental Car so only had 33,000 miles off the lot. I currently have 75k now haha. Pretty Good for an 06 IMO.
Well onto everyone's first stage of modding: random stickers and crappy rims haha
Got the rims and tire for 330 and thought i came up. In Reality they were bent to hell because previous owner lived in lake arrowhead haha. 18x8 unknown offset. Kumho 215/35/18. Oh and i wrapped my grille with gloss black vinyl. a few days after i bought some skunk2 springs to compliment the low profile tire and cut some wheel gap.I loved the skunk 2 springs best springs for the value and out of all the springs these were the lowest dropping ones for our cars. really solid and comfier than stock IMO

Then i got an Si exhaust Chrome Tip haha and k2 fogs. These were a PITA. had to buy new fogs with a different harness to get them to work haha.

Car looked like this for about 4 months

After that I got some actual legit parts lol: Project Mu Teal Heptagon Lugs

Dec 12' Got my first ever coverage photo ever at Unaffiliated's Meet. Ew grosssss #RicerStatusJK

Then on Dec 17th, 2012 I got my first performance mod: Greddy TIC muffler. It was cut from a dc2 and was pretty beat up so i talked the guys down to $40 haha

Getting Installed:

Ended getting this thing rewelded like 3 times because i hated how quiet it was, so i took my stock resonator out just like the real catback it set up. I love this exhaust to death though. The backfire pops are nice and its quiet when you want it to be. Highly recommend one.

Then on the 31st, i had the idea of making a diy Beaks Bar just for looks. i got a square aluminum tube and just guesstimated the angle and polished the thing nicely. and cut some custom mounts to it aswell. ignore my ricer charm ahhaha. i still cant believe how i though that was ok...

By January 13' I ordered my whole kit: Mugen rr styled skirts, rear lip, spiler and mugen si front lip. I rode with the front lip and sideskirts so i could get used to approaching driveways and all that "lowered lifestyle' jazz. little did i know i would go lower later on. i also

Then buy the 22nd of january I finally saved up enough money for paint haha. i rode around with no front bumper for awhile, looke dpretty s13 drift spec lol. heres the parts being dropped off at the shop and me around town.

Then while the parts were in paint i did some DIY fabric on the door panels. This was also a PITA. for sedan you have to drill a whole bunch of plastic welds and stuff. took awhile and ended up not using the right glue(kept bubbling) looked good for awhile though haha

Finally by January 29th I got my kit back where it was installed back onto the car! It was a pretty awesome sight :) I regret not paying more since everything was stage 1 paint but ehh i can have them repaint things later on.

The rr spoiler really set it off for sure though.

First ever IG Feature :) Back then 300 likes was super cool to mee haha

Kept it like that for awhile then got some 20% tint all the way around.

Then in Feburary i found a single Si coupe seat for sale on a local FB page for cheap:
I took out the airbags from my ex seat and put them in the si seat haha. no airbag lights all good for driver side only. It was wayyyyyy better on the back, im a skinny guy too and the bolsters were really nice compared to ex seats

2 months Later I bought new Rims: Redline Wheels CCW Reps RD144 18x9.5 with an offset of 40. I found them like other things on Craigslist for only $650. This is about when varrostoen had their ccw rep but i liked these more because they didn't have universal holes :D Knowing that i would want to go lower i opted for a 225/35/18 profile. I was already comfortable with a 35 profile tire from my other rims and clearance wise this seemed fitting. I went to 714Tires in Rosemead where they used a airgun to stretch them appropriately.

Met a dope guy with an fd2 conversion there too *drool*

Mounted and with an edited photo on my iphone haha

got featured and kept getting told how great they look for reps. the 2.5 inch lip was pretty cool haha

From then on i kept the car the same and went to a whole bunch of meets/shows like Speed and Stance and a Riverside show

Since i had a wing i decided to do this since ive seen a meme of it haha. Dont worry i had a microfiber cloth underneath me so i didnt scratch my paint.

For about 3 Months the car remained fairly the same and my IG following started to grow with every photo that got featured. I meet a whole bunch of people at each meet i go to and i really like talking about cars in general with people. i also sold my Si coupe seat and ended up purchasing the whole front Si and Rear Si seat set for about $400 with some talking/bargaining. I worked on Interior including the steering wheel and re-do of the panels and small stuff. Everyone always keeps me humble and pushes me further. Here are more pics of that span of time:

Heres me taking rolling shots while im driving. Good thing im AT and have a swiveling screen haha.
Also over that span, I had to repair my lip like 3 times xD. i got used to it though and knew how to do it effectively enough for ppl not to notice unless i told them. Rattlecan Touchup FTW.

In May i changed out my Lugnuts because i lost 1 and felt like changing them up anyways. I won an ebay bid for Legit Volk Racing Lugs (Retail $300) and got them for $120. They feature a double locking design or a hex key and a heptagon key beneath that. Real solid couldnt be happier :)
Before with the Project Mu's:

After with the Volk Racing Formula Lugs

So for about 2 months during summer i went everywhere. i drove to vegas with zero problems and the only thing i broke were necks haha. I had people coming to me and were like are you selling it? I just laughed and said naw im just taking pics for IG and stuff.

After Vegas i went through a breakup with my girlfriend and it pretty much resulted to my car getting all my incoming income. It made me happy and I found more of a passion with my car. It didnt fill a void but i learned to have that alone time where i was at peace. My friends and Family supported me full board and i just kept modding and modding
July 2013 i purchased a Weapon-R Throttle Controller. Better MPG/Throttle Response. The unit gets rid ogf the 8% less throttle that comes stock with the Drive By wire. It has a normal mode(stock), an Eco Mode, and Power Mode with sensitivity settings built in. I also purchased a Hypertech Tuner. i love the unit but i saw the decrease in mpg when i have my performance tune on it. Being so i run a stock tune right now.
Then came an awesome Takata Seat Belt Pad that i found really comfortable and sporty :) i got it off Alibaba i believe lol

Then came more flurry of parts including J'sracing front banner sticker, J's Racing Red H steering wheel overlay, and a Carbon Fiber shift overlay from Zerg industries

Also you notice i redid my AT shifter using a ball shifter. the inside is hollow with a plastic sleeve i superglued onto the shifter. Youll only know what i mean if you've taken apart the shifter before. to engage/change gears you simply push down^
Also I redid my Interior With Black Gradation Fabric rather than the ugly Red Silk Brocade i had. i used Super 99 spray adhesive for a better result than last time Youll see more pics of that in later pics haha.
Here are more pics from shows/with friends and stuff

then had fun at my local shop with random spoilers. I kept my stock one though don't worry.

Got Fender's Rolled

Then on Augest 11, 2013 I went to 86Fest at Fontana SpeedWay where a buddy and i went into our first track event: Auto X. I was there originally for the show but my buddy with the ae86 offered me a ride along. From there i was really interested and wanted to drive my car badly! Then he said since he has a wristband he could drive my car haha. i let him and had a better time than his ae86. Being that i could actually compete and keep up i asked him if i could use his GF's wristband to track the car. He agreed and track officials let me in no problem :D I had only si sways and skunk 2 springs so i had super body roll but everytime i went for a lap my time got better and better. i was beating gtr's, frs', and a few miata's haha. There i learned the importance of handling and driving control. After that day my life changed.

Here was my final times after that day :) oh and ther's me being a goofball haha.

after That, i purchased Godspeed Mono Rs Coils and dropped the car to an appropriate height. I then spent the next few weeks getting it right and ended up adding 5mm spacers all the way around for clearance. +40 offset is hard to work with. i corrected them to a +35 with the spacers.

then i found my twin:

Got an alignment at WheelHouse Tire in Rosemead.
Specs after alignment:
0 Toe
-0.5 Front Camber (No Bolts, corrected from -1 camber Max Coilover Neg Camber)
-2.3 Rear Camber (No Camber Arms, corrected from -3.6 camber in the rear)

Now for some Photos for your viewing pleasure. Note: some of these pics dont have the 5mm spacer on the rear but yeah
August 30th, 2013

Then I found a deal on some Bride Gia's Black Gradation Recline-able seats so i sold the front Si Seats to a local member that owns an LX for $300. super cheap imo. Then I picked up the Brides :D <33333 Theyre Either Bride Taiwan or Bride Canada not sure tbh. Its such a close rep its ridiculous i swear.

They sat in my room for a month while i went to other shows and waited for a deal on brackets lol

Then i repaired my lip and refit it cause it was sagging lol.

Then the brackets came in from a member here on 8th :) had to do some custom fitting since the brackets for bride stradia and gias arent the same. A quick trip to home depot and $20 got me all the hardware and spacers to retrofit everything. I kept the stock seat belts for the people that couldn't exactly "fit" in harnesses lol. and for easy access when i dont feel like wearing harnesses(drive thru's or quick runs somewhere)
Then i installed the harnesses, and eyelets into the rear seats aswell
heres the Interior Pr0n for you ;)

And by October i was rolling again & enjoying Cali Life.
First Rolling Shot and other awesome photos. Oh and my twerk it miley sticker for the lols #Trends

Then got a warning for my Once yellow fog were turning Green. Officer was cool though. He just gave me a warning. Oh also I got 2 fix it tickets for front tint and no front license plate a few weeks before the first pic but i fixed that already by then. Dumb Cali laws haha.

Then another for taking pics on "private property". another warning xD

I did get this photo though and it did get me onto the 2014 8thcivic calendar so im not mad haha

Then in November, I went a little lower and had to shave my rear fenders. The way our cars are double walled/hella thick made me opt for a shave. Was scary at first but was easy once i got used to it. No damage all good and more clearance :)

Extra photoshoot in Anaheim

I rocked this setup for awhile then a friend of mine traded his rims for mine for a little bit.
Enkei Algernon Interlesse Jdm Rims 18x8.5 and 9.5 stagger +42 ET. 215.35 in front and 225/40 in the rear.
I loved them but man they put my so low in the front. i was scraping everywhere due to a 40 profile in the rear and 35 in the front. super solid rims but super heavy aswell haha. the trade only lasted a week and we ended up trading back because of it.it was cool having legit wheels but to everyone that's not a car enthusiast, it really didn't matter what was real or not. They both looked good. Doesn't matter though theyre gone haha.

Then i got a ton of parts from someone parting out on the fb 8thgen forum. I got a corsport strut bar, mugen reservoir covers, and a custom 9thgen r18 cover :)

After That I purchased an Si Tach and speedo to complement the Red interior. Had to do some custom wiring and de-pin a few wires in the harness. Look up in the forums for specifics. Had to pull the tach apart to cover some leds like the DTC or something like that.
And I also i made an DSLR Mount for some cinema action(look on my Instagram for such videos) <3

Then since it was December I got into the X-mas Spirit with my decorations that i made myself! and yess its lights up too! They were secured by steel wire, 3M tape so it didnt scratch, and used this 99 cent led module thing with 2 AAA batteries haha. Worked out perfectly!

After that, 2014 looked pretty cool for mods. Got a carbon fiber shift knob and carbon fiber window trim to add to my carbon addiction.

Then Jason (CambodianRicer) helped me out with an NRG Harness Bar :D

I just recently custom painted the Redlines then quickly sold them after because i wanted to get ready for show Season. The deep Metallic Red was Really Really awesome but you cant win shows with replica rims. Bigger Better things are on the way :DD
Here is the last pics of them on

The car is currently on stocks and im in the process of redoing my Radio and i just purchased an In-Dash for the new system. I have big plans for rims but im going with a nice almost track-stance look. I purchased Advan Yokohama Tires that are currently sitting in my room. Legit wheels are on the way soon don't worry :)

besides all the future mods, I just wanted to show you the journey I've been on with this car. I've met tons of people and connected with enthusiasts from everywhere. I've gained technical knowledge and creative customization with the help of friends and forums. I've been way happier in my life and i love the respect and compliments i get when I'm driving around. Yeah it's an r18 but It's my r18 :) a simply daily that breaks necks on the street and shows its true potential in its own ways. I love my mpg and I love the practicality even though its an auto. I make the best with what i have and Ehhh, i wish i could've got and si too. But at the end of the day, she's my baby. She's brought me through a lot in my life. I love the lifestyle and I aim to keep doing it bigger.
Thanks for reading my Build Thread! If you want to stay up to date and just talk about things i check Instagram all the time @heydevyn. Thanks Guys!

Low key daily driver NHB FA5 build

In August I was hit head on by a mid 90's Thunderbird in my GG FA5. I was super bummed out. The Civic was totaled, but luckily most of the aftermarket parts were salvageable, the only casualty was the AEM CAI. I was able to get the suspension (Koni yellows with Neuspeed sport), Flashpro (obviously), wheels, shifter, and some other little things here and there. I didn't have a whole bunch of stuff, but I had just bought a PLM header and was waiting to install.

So I got an insurance check and found a decent replacement locally. I decided I was going to make a concerted effort to take pictures and document the progress of the new one. I had a pretty good idea of where I wanted to go with it, nothing fancy, just a low key, fun daily driver.

I had a weekend to pull parts before the insurance company wanted the totaled car. No biggie, i just pulled everything off, swapped the stuff to the new car, put the old stuff on the totaled car, and set it in the driveway for the tow truck. I had also picked up an Invidia exhaust, but I ended up selling it, because I really wanted the Full Race.

Picked up a carbon fiber hood ($100!) and some JDM emblems.

Next, I scored a Hybrid Racing CAI to replace the busted AEM.

Stuck some more stickers in the engine bay.

I picked up a Full Race 3" exhaust for $450 from the full race garage sale, and procrastinated for a couple of months before installing it and the PLM header. Huge thanks to my buddy D and his buddy Kamai for help with the header install. I had acquired a Hasport rear mount at some point, and the thing was horrible to install. We hit it with a grinder and eventually got it in. That was Saturday.

I got up Sunday morning (yesterday), and finished bolting up the exhaust. Everything fit great, nothing seems to be rubbing or leaking, and I couldn't be happier. Its not as loud as I thought it would be, which was a nice surprise. This car pulls great now, I wish I had put these parts on sooner.

So that's pretty much it. I don't really plan on doing anything else to the car, maybe some rear camber arms, Mugen visors and some taillight overlays, I don't know. I'm ready to start working on my turbo sentra.
